I enjoyed the show here in Denver. I think it should have done off Broadway instead of Broadway. But hey, it's hanging in there, barely, but it is. Good for it. A friend of mine just saw it this past week and Ramona Keller was out. Heard her understudy is really good.

The show was designed to have a smaller cast which equals lower costs.
With a small cast it can withstand smaller grosses, but the question is can the theatre.

It can turn out to be a successful touring show as a smaller cast will keep costs down.

Even if there are less cast members they have to pay, that doesn't mean very much (if anything) in the way of how much they're paying for the theatre space, and whether or not their investors are losing money. And thoes costumes and whatnot were't very cheap either. In the grand scheme, a small cast probably doesn't help them all that much financially.
