mizwicked, I couldn't agree more. The cast, AMAZING! the show, take it or leave it. Not as bad as I honestly expected, but not that good either, if that makes sense. I can see whay it has some fans, people who love the American Idol style belting, of which Diana and the rest of the cast did a great job with, and more. By far not the worst thing I've seen on a broadway style stage, but this is not a thread about vampire musicals.
The house at yesterdays matinee was only about 1/4 full. Very sad in that cavernous space.
Back to Diana though, GIRL CAN SING! She blew the rafters off the place. Now I saw Eden do Wicked here in SF, and I remember Eden from her days at Disney's California Adventure in Disney's Steps in Time. I cannot see Eden singing this score like Diana did yesterday. Diana I did not expect to be as impressed with as I was. I hope she does more theatre because WOW! If he goes back into Hairspray I would consider a trip to NYC to see her.
I think this show would have done much better off broadway and on tour in smaller houses.
I too am glad I saw it, but probably won't if it tours again. (unlikeley due to ticket sales this time out)
Some people come into our lives and quietly go, others stay a while, and leave footprints on our heart, and we are never the same.
