Why would anyone who is a broadway supporter want to bash any show? We should all recognize and value different theatre form. It may not be your cup of tea but why bash it?
I have never in my life watched a "like minded community" so outright attack and bash one another. It is sick.
As we all know being invloved in a show is a very emotional experience. People put their heart and soul and we should be respectful. I always loved theatre because of the friendship and the family............Am I off base?
Please, I have had enough...

Seriously...
Nice paradox, though.
BROOKLYN is a horrible piece of theatre. The only thing it accomplishes is the further lowering of the bar. Perhaps bashing it will make room for something of better quality?
Give me a break. You seriously couldn't have just asked this in another thread?
Discussion and criticism leads to enlightenment and improvement.
To say it is rude to criticise a show is absurd.
So are we supposed to only focus on the merits of every show? What would be the point of having a forum if we can't have an open, honest discussion on what we loved and hated?

I understand that good debate is healthy but why use words like "crap"? I have not even seen Brooklyn and probably won't but I am just curious why people feel the need to be so mean to one another. I mean look at the attack I got just for bringing it up?

I am not offended I am just amazed at human behavior. Now someone will bash me for saying this...watch.
I'm amazed that you even started this. Don't tell me there aren't movies you've called "crap" before. Why should theatre be any different? Because it's live?
HEHE
I think you already were.
No, theatre is something to be respected! BKLYN has ruined this. Simple as that.

Matt G you actually raised a good point. I am not sure why I feel it is different. I think it is beacuse having done shows myself I can relate to the tears and sweat that goes into it, but the same can be said for movies. hmmmmm
So have I. Frankly, people need to find better taste.

Maybe I feel like Broadway gets sh*t on all by itself it does not need us doing it as well.....

Honestly, can you guys just stop fighting and go back to my first post.
Let's quit this whole Brooklyn debate and just bask in my brilliance.
I've done theatre and I've done film. If the end result is "crap" there's nothing that can be done about it. Of course there will always be people who enjoy certain things others don't for any number of reasons. I for one, can watch GLITTER on a loop from now until I die and never stop being entertained by it's campiness. I thought GIGLI was actually quite a good film. It had it's flaws, but not so much more than a lot of other films.

I see your point. Maybe I am way too sensitive. I always put myself in other peoples shoes.....
I know that I would feel horrible if I worked on Brooklyn and read this board.
Zebra, sitting in that audience, I felt nothing for pity for those performers. Do a search for my review of the show. The only negative thing I said about any member of the cast was about Eden's screeching. Because honestly, it was painful and it was unnecessary. The cast is exceptionally talented but the material is TRASH.

HOW DO I UPLOAD A PICTURE??!?

How about those who wrote the material? I can only imagine how it must feel.....not to be a baby but I just feel for people..thats all.
I feel about as bad for them as I do for the people who wrote the script to THE GOOD SON w/ Macaulay Culkin (The WORST film I've ever seen), which is not bad at all. They should have known better.
Look, there have been so many crap productions on the stage in the last 100 years it would boggle your mind. Some shows are brilliant (West Side Story, Gypsy, Follies, Caroline Or Change) and some are just painful (BKLYN, Dracula, Thou Shalt Not)
It really is a crap shoot.
