Has anyone here seen the touring cast for "Brooklyn"? If so, are they good because I'm going to see them in a few weeks...

The cast has never been the problem with this show.

It's getting amazing reviews on the road from both critics and theatergoers.

Here's my review..

First of all, the Bushnell is so big! It looks wonderful inside (and outside) (pictures coming soon). It was so exciting to see Brooklyn in such a big house, with [what looked like from front row] a full house, something we didn't see often on Broadway. The show started and i felt like I was finally back at the Plymouth watching the show, after being away for such a long time, like it never closed. The cast did such a great job with the material its ridicouls. Diana improved a lot from the Run-Through I saw and sells her portrayal of Brooklyn. She owns such a beautiful voice that I did not care for the key-change in Once Upon A Time. She was terrific and funny, and even though it was my first time ever seeing someone else play Brooklyn [yes i saw the show 28 times :p] her performance felt "right". Her Once Upon A Time was breathtaking!

I could not imagine Brooklyn in a large stage, mainly because of the set, but it was funny to find out that in such a big theater (2000+ seats) the stage is not much bigger than it was in the Plymouth. They did a great job transferring everything.

Some things just didnt make the cut, though. Brooklyn in the Blood was out of the show probably because of Jeff not understanding it's a key point in Brooklyn. Some minor costume changes for Melba, but that's understandable. What I didn't understand was the major change in Street Singer's costume. He looked like a walking disco ball! It looked as if they went to a nearby CVS and got the ugliest shining wallpaper and just taped it on his original costume. However, that did not stop Cleav from giving another one of his amazing performances. Watching him move and dance on the metal platforms during Superlover and other numbers was great fun! He has Brooklyn in his blood.

Should I really tell you about Lee? He was unbelievable as always, showcasing his very strong voice like never before. I really think he improved SO much from the Denver production. LOVED him in Superlover, Def. one of the highlights of the show. Speaking of the highlights of the show, Melba's Raven was one. She was so powerful and gave it a new twist at the end. And man, can she hold a note!

Julie kept the energy going the whole show, and gave a beautiful Christmas Makes Me Cry. BTW- She is too hot. Well, maybe its just a Faith thing :]

The stagedoor was lots of fun, even though it was raining like crazy. I waited both shows for everyone and they were all very thankful and very energetic.

Let's be honest, Tiny-Toon; I think the cast is getting good reviews.

The show itself is awful.

The show isn't getting good reviews, at all. It's getting lukewarm reviews at best. The cast, however, is getting good reviews. That's very different.

It's the same issue it had on Broadway, horrible show but with fabulous performances.

Well, thanks for the review! I love Diana Degarmo so I'm really excited! I just wanted to see some other people's opinions that have seen it already. Thanks!

Poor Cleavant. That costume is not pretty.
