Bryant Park makes its decision about lawn closure independent of what LiteFM will do.
I think it's kinda cute when they say that the lawn is resting.
It was last year or the year before where they cancelled even though they should have the program go on.
Anyway, I decided to go into work.

So if Bryant Park says it's a go, the station will try to make sure it happens from the business side.

I ended up going! Wasn't cancelled. Actually turned out to be sunny and hot. Most of the original cast was there (which I thought was great) except Sutton Foster and Kecia Lewis Evans - their understudies were there. Sutton probably wasn't there because none of Janet's bigger songs were performed, except in the opening song where she goes "I'm Janet! I'm Janet Van De Graaff." Angela has a great voice, but I still think I'd prefer to see Sutton. Anyways, here's a song list of what was performed:
Mamma Mia:
1) Lay All Your Love On Me
2) The Winner Takes All
3) Mamma Mia
4) Dancing Queen
Beauty and the Beast:
1) Me
2) Home
3) If I Can't Love Her
4) Beauty and the Beast
Drowsy Chaperone (including commentary with Bob Martin):
1) Fancy Dress
2) As We Stumble Along
3) I Am Adolpho
4) Toledo Suprise
I think my favorite overall performances were with Drowsy Chaperone. I was suprised they performed Toledo Suprise since that is a bigger song and dance number.

Posted: 7/13/06 at 8:46pmI managed to take a long lunch and stopped by for about a half hour. I caught the last two Beauty Songs (millie did you happen to hear who was performing? Was it Sarah and Steve?) And Some of Drowsy. Bob Martin was good, but for the bigger Drowsy numbers there were too many people on stage and too few mic's. Me and the people I was with could hardly understand (we were all the way in the back by the library). Beauty was very good though. And a nice turn out despite the grass being asleep.

Sarah performed as Belle and Grant Norman performed as Gaston and the Beast. Steve wasn't there. He wasn't there when I went a couple of years ago either.

Carey Anderson (Sophie)
Judy McLane (Tanya)
Leah Hocking (Donna)
Olga Merediz (Rosie)
Andy Kelso (Sam)
---> I'm not familiar with a lot of the cast of Mamma Mia, so I'm not sure if it was Andy Kelso.
Anyways those were the main people who performed.

Thanks,
they were both very good. Then at the end they threw in the Jacob Young promo.
But Drowsy was disappointing.
Edit: Jacob it is. My mind was elsewhere. Prehaps on Jersey Boys.

Posted: 7/13/06 at 9:35pmI believe Cape meant "Jacob Young", who is now starring as Lumiere in BatB.

The "You Might Know him as (fill in character name). And for a limited time you can see All MY Childrens' Jacob Young preforming as Lumanire" promo after Beauty preformed.
Please excuse the spelling im just to lazy to check it right now.

Posted: 7/13/06 at 9:39pmI didn't think Drowsy was disappointing. And, okay, I remember hearing the Jacob Young/Donny Osmond promo.

I got there about 30 min before the show started, so most of the seats were filled. I was all the way up front on the left of the stage right under the speaker with the big potted plant in front of me; I kinda stuffed myself in there lol. Then I moved over a seat because it became available.
Dunno if anyone saw me but I had a black shirt, pink pants, and my hair in a ponytail.

What a great concert.
Drumstruck cancelled.
Mamma Mia cast was full of energy.
Beauty and the Beast was entertaining.
I've yet to see Drowsey Chaperone but the cast was fabulous!!
I have the CD and love it...can't wait to see it.

Posted: 7/14/06 at 10:03amI had a great time at the concert. I was sitting up front near the speaker wearing a Las Vegas tee. Several people were inconsiderate; they had large-size umbrellas and kept blocking my view. If they can't sit in the sun, they could wear a hat, get a small-size umbrella, or sit under a tree. I was glad I came anyway. Georgia Engel was great, as was the rest of the cast from "The Drowsy Chaperone". They were full of energy! The cast of "Mamma Mia" was also great; especially Leah Hocking. The host, Victor Sosa, seemed to know little about hosting, he never gave the names of the songs performed. Luckily, you guys know the tunes.
