Bubba Gump's

Around mid december, in the old space occupied by Bar Code ( near the Virgin Megastore in Times Square), this seafood chain opens a huge restaurant. Having sampled their food in Maui Hawaii, let me tell you the food is great. The fried shrimp does not taste fried at all. A welcome addition to Times Square & a cut above other chain eateries

Mr. Roxy, I've been to the one in Maui too and I LOVED it!
I was in NY yesterday and I noticed the "coming soon" sign and it's a funny coincidence because my girlfriend just gave me a gift certificate to Bubba's for me to use when I go to Maui next year. I might be using it sooner!

I have eaten there. I flipped to the "Stop Forest Stop" sign a record 22 times because I had this FINE waitress. :-P

Pretty soon they're going to be able to put a big roof over several blocks and call the place "Times Square 'n' Things!"

As I live and breathe, we are now welcoming the arrival of chain restaurants!

Sea food. Yuck. Not in this lifetime. Take oysters for example, now what ever possessed the first person to put something like THAT in their mouth???? Double yuck.

I have no idea what a "Moule" is and I don't think I wanna know. Sounds almost as bad as Sea Snot ie oysters.

You guys! Have you heard of this place in Times Square called TGI Fridays? My friend has one in his strip mall and says it is great and they have things like assorted street signs on the walls and things. LOL. And sometimes the waiter will like squat down at your table when he takes your order and a different waiter will bring your food from the kitchen! LOL. My friend says they have these things called potatoe (sp?) skins and they are like baked potatos (sp?) with all the gross part takens out and then made into french fries but with cheese and bacon added in. LOL. My other friend says they are delicious and almost as good as the Awesome Blossom at Chilis only made of potatoe (sp?) instead of that thing they make the Awesome Blossom out of whatever that is. LOL. I can't wait to try TGI Friedays!

Re Off Topic

1. Times Square is near the theater district
2. People do eat before theater
3. This is on a theater related board
4. Theater friendly people are discussing it

It is not off topic & if it were big deal

Yes, Times Square is in danger of becoming a combination Disney-like theme park and shopping mall like so many areas of so many other cities. The one positive aspect is that this restaurant at least will be a place that won't attract the teen gang members that Bar Code did. I may be thinking of the wrong place but, isn't Bar Code the establishment that had quite a few problems a year or so ago?

Namo,
Forget TGI Friday's. There's a place a few blocks uptown called Planet Hollywood where you can eat a burger while sitting next to a costume once worn by the soon to be governor of CA. Now how cool is that?

They closed Bar Code?
When did this close? I thought they were very popular. They always seemed to have people coming in and out of there.

I actually swear by the cheap 'n cheerful (and FAST) Dallas-Bar-B-Q. Even if I think I have no time before a show, I'm in and outta there so fast I always make the curtain.

Aren't they making a musical of FOREST GUMP? I think Martin Short is set to star.

Seriously, folks, the Bubba Gump in Chicago is a tourist Mecca. A joke that all locals tease each other about going to. I am glad some of you enjoyed thier meals on the shores of Maui, but on the shores of Lac de Michigan, this place sucks crawdad brians.

PEACE.

My question to Mr. Roxy is what's the point of eating something fried if it doesn't taste fried?

I mean...fry up a baby and I'll eat it.

Do not get me wrong . I love my fries especially Belgian Fries in Times Square, Mc D's Fries & Nathan's Fries. What I meant to convey is the food is good. Nothing better than a burger & fries in my humble opinion

Bar Code was closed because of many problems they were having with unruly crowds . No great loss for the area. I remember the old Times Square which I really miss. For the most part, the way it is now is for the better.

TGI Fridays is all over NJ there's like 5 in close driving distance from me, along with Ruby Tuesdays, Chill's, and Applebes. This aren't a bight deal by me but something like Bubba Gump, Planet Hollywood, or Hard Rock cafe, are cool theme restraints worth going to when I'm in the city. Well, that is if I can get past Johns Pizzeria or Carmine's so if I can avoid 44th st. I'm good lol but it don't happen often.
