Butterfly Song?

Hey Y'all!

Years ago at a cabaret an artist sang a particular song about a butterfly and I for the life of me can not remember the name of it or who wrote it. I would like to try to tack down sheet music for it as I have been asked to speak and sing aty former high school.

The story of the song is this: There is a butterfly who only stretches out his wings and never goes anywhere. One day he asked the river where he his heading to. The river responds the ocean. The butterfly says how much he wants to see the ocean but he can't because he's just a small butterfly. The river responds by saying that everytime the butterfly stretches his wings he creates a bit of wind and that wind helps the river reach the ocean and that he can do whatever he dreams.

Any information about the song would be much appreciated!

That sounds like a lovely song, wish I could help you out but i've never heard it.

If you haven't heard it "The Butterfly" from ZORBA is another great one, though quite dark and not quite appropriate for an inspirational speech.

I love that song.

I actually like the show as a whole, but that song is a standout.

(PS It always reminds me of the male equivalent of Meadowlark)
