I'm going to New York in the Summer, and need to know whether to book tickets before I arrive, as I am not aware of rush/lottery procedures/times and really want to see some shows!
I don't mind going to TKTS but really want to see Next to Normal, and 9to 5 (and possibly others) but these I have to see!
So, should I buy before I go, or risk getting them when I'm there for the week?
Thanks for comments/advice!
My guess is 9 to 5 will likely be available either at tkts or the box office no matter what.
next to normal may be a lot more iffy (unless you want to do a crazy early rush) depending on what happens with the Tonys...
As far as rush/lottery... There is information both on playbill.com as well as All That Chat on talkinbroadway.com.
Thanks jordangirl, I really want to see next to normal! I hope everything runs smoothly and will try a rush (If i can drag my friends along)
Do you know appropiate times to get there?
I would book now using discount codes (broadwaybox.com), just in case something crazy happens at the Tonys.
I don't predict either of the shows will pick up many awards, but they will both have national exposure, and you can never tell. Though both are pretty frequently on TKTS.
Don't the discount codes only go to June time?
I am going in July btw. lol :) Thanks everyone!
Some codes are good later than June, you just have to check. But, a lot of shows do put out new codes after one expires. Again, just keep checking back.
For discounts:
Playbill.com
Theatermania.com
Broadwaybox.com (the one I use most)
