Bye Bye Birdie at the Kennedy Center

Before the pandemic, the Kennedy Center was planning a production of BIRDIE with a terrific cast--and Harvey Fierstein as Mae Peterson. Does anyone know what it's fate is?

Its fate is likely the same as Bye Bye Birdie Live on NBC starring Jennifer Lopez.

It was part of the Broadway Center Stage semi-staged series for 2019-2020 (DC's equivalent of Encores!). They just announced Center Stage for 2022-2023, and it's not on the schedule (Guys & Dolls, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Sunset Boulevard). So I assume it's dead.

Too bad. I would have driven down yo DC just to hear Harvey talk about Mae's "condition"
