Bye MOMMIE Bye! - Revival Of Classic Charles Busch Play Ends Run Jan. 13

Another star descends a staircase into the arms of the awaiting police when the Off-Broadway engagement of Charles Busch's DIE MOMMIE DIE! plays its final performance at New World Stages Jan. 13.

Performances of the Busch play began Oct. 10 and officially opened at New World Stages Oct. 21. Upon its Jan. 13 closing, DIE MOMMIE DIE! will have played 12 previews and 97 regular performances.

The limited engagement was previously scheduled to continue through Feb. 17; however, producers of the critically well-received work announced the production would shutter one month early.

Busch's "grande-dame Guignol," DIE MOMMIE DIE!, was first presented in Los Angeles. The playwright and star also headlined the film version of DIE MOMMIE DIE!, which was part of the 2003 Sundance Film Festival.

The 1960s-set DIE MOMMIE DIE! stars Busch as "Angela Arden, a fallen pop diva trapped in a hateful marriage to film producer Sol Sussman," production notes state. "Desperate to find happiness with her younger lover, Angela gruesomely murders her husband with the aid of a poisoned suppository, leaving her two children to avenge their father's death."

Busch is joined onstage by Bob Ari (The Constant Wife) as Sol Sussman, Chris Hoch (Spamalot) as Tony Parker, newcomer Ashley Morris as Edith, Kristine Nielsen (Our Leading Lady) as the Sussman's live-in domestic, Bootsie Carp, and "As the World Turns" Emmy nominee Van Hansis as Lance.

Hope this gets to play London as is planned at the end of 2008.
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

What a fun show. I was glad to have seen it, twice. Busch was remarkable! I look forward to his next venture. Would love to seem him do "The Lady in Question" that is my favorite Busch play. Best of luck Charles and the rest of the cast!

What a shame! I went twice. Charles is fantastic. It is very sad that it could not stay open.
I loved it!
Why is he a dying breed? He is talented!!!! I wish more playwrights were as talented as Charles Busch. He is a class act.

I'm so glad I saw this show before it closed (I was there on Friday). I hadn't laughed that hard in ages. I went mainly to see Van Hansis ("Nuke" fans, anyone?) but in the process I've fallen madly in love with Charles Busch re: Bye MOMMIE Bye! - Revival Of Classic Charles Busch Play Ends Run Jan. 1 He's BRILLIANT.

I saw the final performance! Brilliant is an understatement!! LOVE Charles Busch, and Van, of course. This was the best performance I've seen in... ever! I laughed until I cried, and kept laughing.

Van and Charles were so generous with their time after the show, talking to all the fans and taking pic and signing playbills. I can't wait to see Charles again, soon. And, to all you NUKE fans, see you in April!

I adored this production. I went to the first preview, and also the final performance, sitting front row center in both. I've become an avid fan only recently, and am happy I caught his brilliance. Wonderful actor, wonderful man....and a fascinating history...just read his novel, Whores of Lost Atlantis. reading that and watching his documentary is a fantastic backdrop in learning more about this multi-talented man.

THANK YOU CHARLES BUSCH!!!
