It’s that time of the year, when people like me make lists of the best of 2018 and, in my case, I even have my personal awards.
So, on my blog JORGE’S PLACE, I’ve just posted my awards regarding cast recordings, plus my list of the best 12 new cast/soundtrack recordings of 2018. If you have time and patience here is the link and feel free to comment and crucify me: https://themusicalchronicles.blogspot.com/2019/02/cast-recordings-of-2018-personal-look.html

Posted: 2/2/19 at 10:59amMy favorites this year were The Band’s Visit (if it counts for 2018) and especially The Beast in the Jungle. For revival I’d probably go with Brigadoon as well. It’s a lovely recording and I had issues with Carousel, My Fair Lady and Once on This Island that hindered my listening enjoyment. I’m curious about the award of “biggest deception” for Pretty Woman. I’m not disagreeing with you, just curious what you mean.

"I’m not disagreeing with you, just curious what you mean."
I meant that I was expecting something more entertaining, with at least a couple of songs that would stand on their own. It was a close race between PRETTY WOMAN and FROZEN.

Just curious! I agree the Pretty Woman score was pretty underwhelming and except for "What Do You Know About Love?" I didn't think any of the new songs in Frozen matched the quality of the songs from the film either.

Carousel and My Fair Lady were my favorite recordings. They both sound so lush and beautiful, and the vocals are incredible.
