Ok. I think we are all in need of a new "Chicago the broadway musical" discussion. It has been a while. It is one of those musicals that I actually couldn't begin to figure out how many times I have seen. I first saw it with Chita and Gwen and then with Chita and Ann Reinkin. And I have seen the current revival starring everyone and their mother. I saw the revivals first national tour 3 times at the Ahmanson in Los Angeles and then at its move to the Shubert in Century City. I also saw the Las Vegas production of the revival with Chita Rivera , Ute Lemper and Ben Vereen. My favorite Roxies are Charlotte Damboise and Sandy Duncan. My least favorite was Melanie with Karen Ziemba a hard trying second. My favorite Velma will always be Chita Rivera. But from the revival production I must say it is Bebe Newirth. As for my least favorite Velma; Jasmine Guy. Truly bad. Just threw the role away. As for Mama; I loved Lea Delaria but Marcia Lewis was perfect for me. Also enjoyed Jennifer Holiday in the role. James Naughton and Michael Berresse have been my favorite Billys. With Patrick Swayze and Ben Vereen the worst.
Did they do a Mother's Day special engagement?

LOL! Oh how funny. Thanks for pointing that out. You do have me laughing out loud.

I'll have to think of this and get back to it later but I will say that my favorite Velma was Ruthie Henshall and my favorite Roxie was Charlotte D'Amboise.

I loved Ruthie. I would have loved to have seen her Roxie.
Chicago does rock! It is one of my fave's!
I had always wanted to see Ruthie in something, when she came to NY to do Chicago that was the first time I went to see it. She was wonderful, no one I've seen since has made me love the show as much as she did.
What made her so good in it?
When will David Hasselhof be in the Broadway production????!!!!
I think it was her enthusiasm. It was so obvious that she really loved doing this role and wanted to throw herself into it completely. She had this walk that showed she controlled the stage and every thing on it. Her chemistry with D'Amboise was perfect, they played off of each other so well it just seemed so natural. I also enjoyed her voice and she really used When Velma Takes the Stand to show off. She really loved the part, and you could tell she was just natural at it.

I only wish that I could see her as Roxie.

Well; I am hoping the producers start bringing some of the favorites back. I would still love to see Charlotte paired off with Bebe Newirth. I would buy my ticket and book my airline ticket immediately.
		     			where you be living, dame?

The DAME is a West Coast hussy.
I think Bebe and Charlotte would be a great pair too!
		     			Speaking of ...
She is back!

Oooooooh methinks I should go see Chicago again. I haven't seen it in over a year.
CJR usually knows when the curent cast is hot. I will go again when she gives a heads up.
She actually just went and saw it on Friday, so she should be able to give an idea.
She is on line. But she hasn't posted. You know she will . She will see Chicago and she will have two or three paragraphs in her. I keep checking....
