How long do you guys think tickets will be available? Will they sell out quick?
Also, how long did it take for the RENT tickets to sell out when they did their anniversary benefit performance?

Should be a fun night for those who go and if you never saw this cast, definitely make an effort (if you can) to be there.
I saw the original cast twice 10 years ago and, though it would be a lot of fun, I don't plan on shelling out $250+ to see them again (between discounts and rush I remember paying a fraction of that the first time around).

I'd like to request the original ensemble as well, please...or at least some of them. (For $250, don't I at least get to make suggestions??)
It would be grand to have the original ensemble back as well. I must have seen the original revival cast at least 10 times and I can assure you that everyone was beyond amazing! Those performances have yet to be beat in my book. Some have come close but none have topped them.
I don't see why some of the original ensemble can't come back. Though the current ensemble is fresh and just great.
I'm suprised they didn't announce D. Sabella coming back for Mary Sunshine. He has returned to the show a lot, I just saw him in the summer of 2004 in the show. I assumed he'd return for this too.
So I'm assuming if you bought a ticket for the event, you can attend the post performance galla? Or is that only for the special people?
And all the stars will be at the after party, right?

Im fairly certain that the lower priced tickets do not get you into the gala.

Although imho $250 damn well should get me into the gala...if I alert the Weisslers to the total amount of $$ I've spent seeing this show, maybe that would count for something!
I know I won't be able to go, but this is really exciting. I'm overflowing with jealousy with anyone who gets to attend this event. It was nice when RENT did this, but to be this is the would I would really like to attend.

NBC that's not a bad idea. I think if we pool our amounts together, they will find the dollar amount staggering and give us special treatment.....
HAH.

- I'm going have to call out find out myself or something. Because about a week ago, you told me I wouldn't even be able to attend the real show.

Because a week ago, that's what I was told. That nothing was final and that it was going to be a benefit performance.

By the way, THIS is what I said: Good luck getting tickets to the 10th anniversary performance dear. The date is blacked out to the general public until they finalize all the details. It wont be just another anniversary performance as it has been in years past.

please don't think me overly picky, but out of respect for Fosse/Rivera/Verdon, should a clearer reference to "original REVIVAL cast" be adopted?!?!?

I *so* badly want to go to this, but alas, we are poor in every aspect but name.
Most places ARE saying "original revival cast."
Personally I think the whole night will be like a tribute to Fosse and Verdon, because everyone knows that this revival wouldn't be possible if it weren't for those two brilliant creative minds. And I definitely can see Chita being there. Also it will be a nice tribute to Fred Ebb and Orbach!

this thread nor the other one I glanced at on this board make the distinction between "original cast" and "original revival cast"...hopefully the press releases do.

And CJR, if we add the dollar amount spent by my seatmate, as well...surely they will perform a special champagne toast to us from the stage...as well they should.

Haha oh god yes. Between the original 5 or 6 of us from the Shubert days, Im sure both the performance number and dollar amount is scary!

And we weren't even the original originals. My friend started going regularly with a group in 98-99...

That's very true. Good point. Those numbers must be staggering!

According to Broadway.com:
"To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the ever-popular Chicago revival, there will be a starry benefit performance of the musical on November 14 at the Ambassador Theater. The show will be done in its entirety, with different stars each taking a number. Original principals Ann Reinking, Bebe Neuwirth, James Naughton, Joel Grey and Marcia Lewis will all participate in the event."
So the original revival cast won't perform the show in it's entirety. They are having tons of different alumni come back, each doing a number.

This should be such a fun evening. Few people in this revival have matched the chemistry and buzz that the original cast had, some individual performers have equaled Reinking, Neuwirth, and Naughton but the energy that they had as a whole was only matched by the original London cast (in my opinion of course).
If you did not get around to see them perform, the $250 are worth it. Especially it's always good to see two Fosse dancers (especially Reinking who as far as I'm concerned hasn't performed since the show "Fosse") doing this show.
Some of the alumni I'd like to see are: Chita Rivera, Ruthie Henshall, Ute Lemper, Frances Ruffelle, Karen Ziemba, Debbie Gravitte, and Brent Barrett. It'd seem a little unfair not to have Charlotte D'Amboisse participate in the performance though. Also, perhaps Liza Minnelli could show us a bit of what made her Roxie special in the original production.

I know Rob Bartlett will be taking part in the show in some capacity
