Like I said, she danced it fine - it just did not seem like the dancing was an extension of who she was.

Maybe it will get a bit more fluid and natural. Or maybe, that is one of the downsides of using the same choreography as from 1975.

There were some parts of the dance montage that appeared a bit forced.

But, for the most part, the dancing was amazing. It just did not seem to be an extension of who she was.

I really do wonder if they have modifed Charlotte's dance at all. It would be frustrating to think they were making her do all the McKechnie stuff when Charlotte could so easily call Ann Reinking, whom she has a close working relationship and a similar body type, and consult on what changes Michael Bennett made to the dance for her.

I agree. Charlotte has been doing the Fosse choreography for a long time (not only in Chicago), I'm sure between Bob Avian, Baayork Lee, and Ann Reinking they could remember what adjustments Bennett made to fit Reinking's style. It seems the creative team wants to re-create the 1975 original opening night choreography/direction but I'm not sure they're really paying attention as to how this affects the cast or the audience reaction for that matter.

MB - I don't know the differences well enough to tell the differences -

Maybe they have or will and I just cannot tell. Or maybe, as she grows more comfortable in the role, it will become as if it is a part of her.

Parts of it just did not seem organic to the person who was on stage, but a performance. I am sure once you see it you will be able to identify and confirm which choreography is being used.

I general though, I did love the show, and my comments are more nits than anything else. Like I said, would happily pay to see it again.

I hope that makes sense.
