I think it's great that a whole bunch of us are going to be there! I've personally never done an opening night before (I always thought you had to Be Someone to get opening night tickets, so I never tried), so I'm definitely doing a countdown to the big event.
I'm probably going as well...I went to the box office today and was told another, good block of tickets may be available later this week. So I'm going to chance and see if I could get a better seat (Only available are the side mezz now).
If I can't go, I know you'll have a fantastic time - the audience was very hopped up when I saw it a week or so ago, and positive word of mouth is increasing.
I have a question.
Ever since this whim that I had last weekend, I've been trying to get tickets to the opening night of Curtains, but Telecharge kept saying there were none currently available. About ten minutes ago, I tried, and it let me buy two tickets to the March 22 performance at 6:30pm in row O of the mezz. Before, whenever I checked and there were no tickets available, it had only listed a single performance on the 22nd, which was at 8pm. Now it says this 6:30 one is the only show that night. Does anyone know what I just spent $238 on? Is opening night at 6:30 now, and so I'm going to see it? Or is something else going on, and I screwed up somehow?
Opening night curtains are generally at 6:30.
Rath -- are you going to be reappearing on opening night? I'll be there with a friend . . . hoping to make it 2 friends I'm there with . . .
No. *sniff* I wish!
The show on March 22nd is at 6.30pm - I had an email from Telecharge reminding me. It's my first opening night too and I'm SO excited about it! I'm travelling from the UK especially to see this (and to spend more time in my favourite city as well).
I just hope the view from near the back of the mezzanine is OK (though I do have a second row ticket for the Sunday matinee as well, so all is not lost)!
Have a great time at your opening night.
We all know that taking pictures during a Broadway performance is strictly forbidden and inapropriate. The only time I know of when this isn't the case is the opening night curtain call. The press photographers all rush towards the front of the house to take pictures of the performers taking their bows.
I don't think anyone will be there checking for press passes at that moment if you want to get a shot or two.
