Too bad opening night tickets aren't as hard to come by as they used to be.
Enjoy the show.

Well I didn't say I had to sleep with anyone to get them. Just excited about going on opening night. Can always count on someone on this board to throw a bucket of cold piss on someone's excitement.
well, i say GO PIANOMAN!
its a fun show, and you will enjoy it.
fishes,
Graham!
Why is it too bad that they aren't as hard to get anymore? Sounds very good to me!

If they were harder to get, it would be even more special.
Thats awesome! Yankeefan is right though, I just got tickets to the Opening Night of Inherit the Wind, not that hard to come by.
PS. I still bought a damn nice outfit for the occassion!
Enjoy, pianoman! It's a fun show!
Don't let them dampen your evening! We're losing the Theatre Experience. Some of us are doing our best to keep it alive, but... I dunno. I've never seen a show without a jacket and tie, include a nice lunch or dinner in my plans, do my homework on the cast before the show... then I get to the theatre and it's like people have bought themselves and their kids $110 movie tickets. T-shirts and gameboys, bubble burst on the cell phone during the show, walking out during curtain calls like it's the 8th inning and you already know your team will lose... my heart breaks.
Opening night is, or ought to be, an Experience and I hope it's special for you. Dress up, be fabulous, smile at the photographers and tell us if your pic shows up anywhere! I'm green with envy, I wish I were going with you. My tux is pressed and ready if your date cancels

That is wonderful!!! Have a great time!!! Where are you sitting? I've never been to an opening; does the whole audience get dressed up or just the celebrities going to the parties?

Excellent news pianoman! Is this your first Opening Night Experience? I'm very happy and excited for you! Go and enjoy and take the very apt advice of Shakespearean(excellent post BTW, couldn't agree more!) make it an Experience. Because that's what Broadway-On and Off is and should always be.
Congrats and thanks for sharing your excitment with us.

I have very fond memories of the four opening nights I attended, unfortunately the critics didn't agree:
ME AND JULIET
PIPE DREAM
THE GAY LIFE
DO I HEAR A WALTZ?
Nevertheless, especially with the first two, it was fun to be in the same audience as Merman, Martin, Porter, Dorothy Killgallen, Arlene Frances and to be sitting right next to Joan Blondell at the Me and Juliet opening.
Opening nights are great! Have a blast and PLEASE come back and give us a full report/review! LOVE David Hyde Pierce and I hope the Broadway Gods smile on he and CURTAINS this season I want to see this and PIRATE QUEEN when I come in June for the Tony's. I haven't been this excited about two new shows in one season in a VERY long time!

I'm green with envy - I'm a big fan of Kander & Ebb. And knowing that this may very well be their last original show (not a revival) to open on Broadway makes it even more special.
Hope you enjoy the show and I look forward to reading your review of the show and hearing about the whole experience!

I'm also doing the CURTAINS opening night, and I'm also pretty excited about it -- I don't think I'll hire a stretch limo, but I still plan to fully enjoy the sense of event (even from the last row of the mezzanine!).
I just saw it yesterday afternoon! The cast is awesome!

Hey, if were lucky, we've still got The Visit and The Skin of Out Teeth (Not sure what they're calling it now).
Thanks for the headsup. Just bought center MEZZ tickets for opening! SO PSYCHED!!!

Yes, and I hope we'll see those shows on the Great White Way in the future. But since Fred Ebb has passed away and THE VISIT didn't make it to Broadway during his lifetime, they most likely will need someone else to help out on the changes. But even so, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that both of those shows will end up on Broadway!
Okay, I gave in and bought a ticket for opening night. I had to get my shift at work covered and I'll be eating cereal for dinner for a week to afford it but I know it will be worth it! I can't wait!
I didn't even realize all the people that could be there (Liza, Bebe, Ann, Chita). I wish I could go!
