We're traveling to Chicago next Spring with our 8 year old daughters to attend Mamma Mia. We're going to the two matinees. We're Orchestra Center, Row 4 for one performance, and Orchestra Center, Row 1 for the other. Are we going to be disappointed in the Row 1 seats? I've never been in the Cadillac Palace Theater. Is the height of the stage and/or the positioning of the orchestra going to make us wish that we were a few rows back with young kids (who LOVE Mamma Mia)??
Sorry I can't help you, but I have to ask. You're going to Chicago and seeing the same play twice? Why on earth would you do that? Yes, I get that they LOVE Mama Mia, but why not give them a chance to LOVE something else as well?

Oh, they see PLENTY of live performances. In the last 16 months, we've attended Broadway productions of Beauty & the Beast, Lion King (twice also), Memphis, Peter Pan and also attended Cirque Dreams, Blue Man Group, the Nutcracker, and several others. And within a week of this Mamma Mia doubleheader, they'll attend Wicked at the Orpheum Theatre in Omaha. They LOVE live performances and we have the financial means to support that love. We gave them the option of doing other things in Chicago and they chose attending Mamma Mia twice. Since we're flying into Chicago for their birthday trip, we let them have a hand in planning activities. Take care and Happy Holidays!

I took my 9 and 5 year old nieces there last year to see the Grinch from the first row and neither of them had any troubles. If they had any issues, it's nothing that a booster seat couldn't fix.

Thanks, ozone81. Did they enjoy the Grinch, and were you happy with the front row or would you have preferred to be further back in the theater? With kids, it's always a mixed bag. It's good to not have anyone in front of them blocking their view, but if all we're doing is looking at the performers' feet, then it's hardly worth it. And it's early enough in the ticket selling process that we might be able to trade front row for further back. That's why we're trying to get input from people who know this theater. Thanks again!

The row 1 seats are wonderful at Cadillac Palace. I can't think of a theater anywhere that actually thought to leave a lot of room (probably 5 or 6 feet) between row A and the orchestra pit. You have great sightlines and a lot of room to move

What Matt Legg said. I took my nieces to see Elf at the Cadillac Palace this year and from row six my 10 year old niece had to look around the heads of people in front of us and my six year old niece needed a booster seat to see over people. I would stick with row 1. Don't think there will be any issues.

Thanks for the input! Looks like Row A will be awesome!!
Of the three theatres in downtown Chicago, the Cadillac Palace has pretty good sightlines, you should have no problems with your seats on either day.

Some of the shows you mentioned as shows that you recently saw as "Broadway productions, "In the last 16 months, we've attended Broadway productions of Beauty & the Beast, Lion King (twice also), Memphis, Peter Pan and also attended Cirque Dreams, Blue Man Group, the Nutcracker, and several others.", have not been on Broadway in the last 16 months or have never been on Broadway at all. Maybe you meant that you saw the touring versions of regional versions of these shows?
