The CHICAGO 30th anniversary reunion

I don't think the production has drifted at all. I've seen it 39 times at the Ambassador and I have yet to see a bad performance. I'm especially reminded of this during the entre'acte when the performers act as if they haven't heard the music in ages and they are so beyond thrilled to start Act 2 that they can't contain themselves.

They sure did replace the original drops with fakes uglier versions! Maria's draperies are too expensive for today's world and had to be replaced. And Harold Prince called the falling Angel the central metaphor of the show. A horse on stage doesn't have the same effect.

I LOVE the creakiness of the dressing room! It makes it even more theatrical to have this big lumbering thing sliding across the stage. Could you imagine it now, "reimagined"? It would be a video of a dressing room smh. And there is no new 1980s era technology with the chandelier. Its pulleys and wires.

Well that's wonderful that a lot of people enjoyed the Vegas chandelier, as did I, but it does not belong on Broadway. Ruthie II is timeless and iconic. The one in Vegas was obnoxious and crazy and not designed by Maria.

I thought Aladdin was terrible and I would never go back but I do admit that the genie and his scenes were knockout performances and stole the show. I like Sherri but I can't imagine her doing that role even once much less 8 times a week. Maybe they'll somehow dumb it down like they do with Roxie when whatever stunt cast reality star can't do the full Me and My Baby dance.

Based on the info in this thread, especially the list of tours by Tier Level, it seems like the https://actorsequity.org/resources/Tours site isn't enough anymore to serve its purpose. They should add the tier levels fo this site so ticket-buying public can know.....or should they know? I get the reason for publicizing Equity vs nonEquity since so many nonunion tours pass themselves off as being direct from Broadway and such, but should the audiences care about what pay level the peformers are

Well, the last time I went to Masquerade, Carlotta beat me with a severed head and then forced me to hold it for the entire Hanniball rehearsal and then Christine made me hold her dress for Don Juan Triiumphqnt while she sang a song so who knows maybe they will give us prop guns for the barricade.

Wow. Just saw this tonight and it made me fall in love with Les Miz all over again. I wish I could come back to New York and see it again and again (like I used to!). Bradley Jaden. I don’t even know what to say. For me, Javert was always a one note character, just a grouch with an axe to grind for no apparent reason. I always used to just sit and wait for “Stars” to end bc it was dull, at least to me. His suicide seemed to drag on forever (sorry spoiler alert from 1985). BUT TONIGHT! Bradley...

I saw it a completely different way. Taking in that scene surrounded by midtown Manhattan skyscrapers is an only-in-New York experience.

Tonight’s show is on TKTS right now for 20% off. This first week is selling very well so I imagine if you wait til later in the run in August it’ll probably be on TKTS at 50%.
