Meryl Streep as Norma Desmond in the musical version of Sunset Boulevard.

I remember there being talk of a movie adaptation that would most likely feature Glenn Close, and I was just thinking I would love to see Meryl Streep do it instead.

Before the London premiere even happened, Meryl Streep was hoping to be the World Premiere Norma Desmond. While attending the Sydmonton Festival mounting of the show with Patti LuPone playing Norma, she realized Patti would be getting the role after seeing her interpretation.

I'd rather see Meryl Streep than Glenn Close as Norma. Has there been any other word on casting for the 2008 movie?
