Not a classic.

Disney need to learn produce a good modern spinoff. It s just that some big guys rarely read the comments of those on internet of what is popular out there, what s it that people yarn for.

Would be fantastic to see Cassandra or Varian the musical.

I don't think you would ever get a musical version of Peter Pan or Cinderella because there already exists a well-known and well-loved musical of each of those stories. The other question really becomes is are there any of their classic films in which the score is closely integrated enough that it can be extended or the original story can be opened up.

There was a try with Dumbo back in 2010.the rumour was that the music was going to be by Stevie Wonder and the puppetry by the same people who did War Horse but nothing ever end up coming of it.

I do think that if you could do Hercules in traditional Greek theater or Pocahontas with traditional indigenous storytelling and music and dance that could be something very interesting and unique. Although I don't know how commercial that would be.

^^Doing Pocahontas using VA Algonquin storytelling is much more easily done than doing Hercules using Ancient Greek theatre style, mostly because the movie itself ended up being a modern, zany, comedy romp. That wasn't how it started, but ultimately it was Woods' audition that gave Disney pause to change their direction entirely. I can't imagine AT ALL trying to weave ancient Greek theatre with that comedy style and gospel songs, it would end up something like Hunchback...a show with an identity crisis/a musical using the Disneys song without telling the Disney version of the story. (I'm not trying to glorify Disney'fying everything BTW). And I KNOW we all want those high belting Muses, I wont accept anything less and nor will fellow fans. I'm not against Ancient Greek theatre, but the Great White Way is not the place for it.

But ok, now that the Tangled series was mentioned, I'll unabashedly admit I LOVED it, especially when it wasn't a filler episode because those were just weird. But I don't see how that can be turned into a musical. Granted, I'd wanna play Cass so...I wouldn't hate it if it were to magically happen, but I don't believe this is on their radar now that's it's over.

Well, I believe the ties to traditional Greek theatre was a part of the reason that Public Works decided to do Hercules. The Delacorte is an amphitheatre-style performance space in the style of the ancient Greek theatres. It fosters an outdoor, community-centric, for-the-people theatrical experience, just like theatre was back in Ancient Greece.

I agree that going full Greek wouldn't necessarily benefit the story of Herculus, which is why the Delacorte production was a perfect middle ground.

^^ And from what I hear, that didn't go very well...I entered the lottery for every single performance and went in person for 1 or 2 of them, sadly didn't win, but word of mouth told me there's work to be done.
