After three years of being a huge fan, I FINALLY met Adam Pascal last night :) I've seen Aida three times before, but never stuck around to meet him. Since he's leaving soon, we decided it's our last chance to get to talk to him, so we hung around after the show last night.
He walked out with his sharpee marker, and came over to the fans and went, "Hi guys!" I didn't ask for an autograph, just told him my name and said something along the lines of, "You don't understand, I feel like I'm talking to Broadway royalty right now!" and told him how I could listen to his cover of "New York State of Mind" all day.
He was SO sweet and I'm so happy I had the chance to meet him! He looks like a little kid up close! I haven't been that giddy and excited over meeting someone since I met my first huge crush, Harry Connick, Jr., back in the 7th grade.
But, yeah. I met Adam :)

An event, such as meeting someone you admire like Adam, makes the Broadway experience all the more special.
Very Cool!

that's so great! It's always wonderful meeting someone you admire!
Harry used to live down the street from me -- taught me how to rollerblade. He's such a sweetie. He moved a few years ago though.
I remember damn near dying when I met Ann Reinking. She is the only famous person I have ever met where I have not been able to speak!

I couldn't speak when I was trying to talk to Sutton, when we were taking the pic to the left... I was flubbing up all my words... Very rare for me to stutter..
Stevos
Stevos,
Let me see if I got this straight, is that Sutton Foster and you in the photo? If so, very cool indeed!

I've never met a famous person where I've acted that way... like broke down into tears. I'm surprised I didn't when I met Chita, because she IS my Fosse idol after all. Instead, I just jumped up and down and told her I loved her. LOL. To which she responded, "Aren't you just the sweetest?" and gave me a big ole hug! So, yeah. If I didn't cry in front of Chita, I don't think there's anyone I'd cry over meeting. With maybe the exception of Bebe Neuwirth.
And I've had to refrain from licking Gavin Creel every time I've met him... I dunno if that counts?

Chita's of a rare breed... and we didn't stop her on 8th Ave like I did to Annie.. (cmon, it's the only time I've stopped someone on a street that I didn't already know!). I didnt almost cry though -- I had good restraint. It was just kinda awe inspiring... and my talkitive ass was at a loss for words! lmao

I'm usually very glib, but the first time I met Angela Lansbury I completely lost control of myself. I was in London when she was doing GYPSY and wrote a note to her. I was nonplussed when the stage doorman told me she was expecting me in her dressing room. She calmed me down immediately and we chatted for quite a while before she invited me to join her "for a pint". Yes, gentle readers...I drank beer with Angela Lansbury!

I actually DROOLED (literally) the first time I met Gavin Creel and Joe Machota.
I met Gavin when he was touring Fame -- he had bleached hair for that. I like his hair natural.
I met Joe when he was touring Footloose. he was less muscled then, but still breathtaking.
I must admit though, that both times I was a bit taken aback by how flamey they were because I wasn't expecting them to be THAT flamey, ya know?
Well, I will admit that at the first RH preview...I sat, at that time, with my friends and cried when Jarrod came out on stage. After the show, I "calmly" waited for him outside with some flowers and whn he came out, I said these are for you...and where the f*ck have you been. Bway just isn't the same without you! Ahhhh....memories!
Dolly...that is a very cool story! Bwayguy2...do you have any piccies from that Gavin experience???

Yeah, I did. Honestly, I am not sure he would ever understand if I told him that...but when I saw him in Damn Yankees in 1994...my jaw dropped to the ground. I was too shy back then to wait for him after the show, so I had to do it when he finally came back for RH.

is anyone else seeing only the handsome headshot of Stevo and not one with Sutton? do I need to reload my cookies or some such thing?

No, he changed the photo to the one of just him. his photo with Sutton is actually on her website.
He is wearing a red stocking cap and glasses.

they look like king and queen of the prom (look! matching hats! how adorable!) on the class ski trip...I'd do 'em both in the hot tub, like we were on the Colorado Springs Real World.

To Dollypop,
I know exactly how you felt meeting Angela Lansbury. I met her too, after a performance of Gypsy in Cleveland, Ohio. It was theatre-in-the-round, under this HUGE tent in the middle of summer, 90 degrees at curtain. I had taken flowers that a stage person took from me to keep cool. At intermission it felt like 100 under that tent. We were dressed very cool. Shorts, sandals. I went to the bathroom and the zipper on my shorts broke, so my fly was open during Act 2. (I'll admit, it was a bit cooler.) After the show, lots of people were milling around her trailer holding Gypsy programs and Mame LPs for possible signatures. A man came out of the trailer and called out my name and motioned for me to follow him. So, I and my open fly went inside and was introduced to AL. There she was, standing there smiling at me, thanking me for the flowers. There I was, standing there holding my program in front of my shorts. She was kind, and sweet, and much taller than I had imagined, and quickly put me at ease. (At ease as one can be with one's fly unzipped in front of Angela Lansbury.) But then she said she wanted to sign my program and reached for her autograph pen. I almost fainted. What an evening. Saw Gypsy. Met Angela. Got an autograph. And was red-faced all the way home.
does anyone else smell a concept musical here? you get one female and one male excellent musical mimic (or a good tranvestite performer) and the "ensemble" each tells a wonderful story like that about meeting an icon. Some stories could be song monologs. Then the impressionist joins them as the star, does a bit of a signature number (maybe with some of the fans singing a counterpoint number or something). Sorta like LITTLE ME with the impressionists doing various icons...it could star that amazing girl from the film LITTLE VOICE. It could be called ALL MY BEST...
I don't get nervous around "famous people", when it's just one of them around; but I often find myself at events when there are so many of them I get flustered. For example: Liza Minnelli's Christmas Concert, Bernadette Peters' Radio City Concert, and Gypsy opening night. I saw Stephen Sondheim at the Gypsy opening night and I just stared at him. I don't think he saw me thank God!
