What i meant with "safe" was that even if you tackle a controversial subject like racism you can go the safe way and defend only the most agreed upon viewpoints like "every citizen should be treated equally regardless of race" and attack only the most extremist views like nazism and ku klux klan. On the other hand dealing with problems and virtues of immigration is non safe.

"you should never use the theatre for therapy or for your own thoughts or views."

Does that norm include the creators of art?

No, because the show is thier creation. all of thier thoughts and nuances go into it, and since they are the ones writing it, they should feel free to work out thier problems or hold-ups dealing with the theme of the show in any way they see fit.

but with actors, it's not from thier brain. they are channeling someone else's ideas and opinions. I think it is rather selfish to work out your problems on the stage, because then it becomes about you, and not your partner, or the actual show itself. it is also dangerous to try to "therapize" yourself without the aid of a Doctor who can moniter you and make sure you are safe to yourself and others.

"I'm an American, Damnit!!! And if it's three things I don't believe in, it's quitting and math."
