Can we stagedoor at live concerts?

Hi guys,

I'm kinda new to musicals but I'm really into them. I read many experience posts about stagedooring actors and singers after the show. Just a quick questions, is it Ok to stagedoor the singers/actors if it's not at the Broadway theatres but at their live concert tour? I really treasure the opportunity to get an autograph or so but don't want to cause any troubles or inconveniences. If anyone can tell me in advance that would be very helpful!

Thanks a bunch!

Depends on artist, venue, etc., since there are so many ways for them to get out without having to interact with anybody. Some bands and such will sign things on their way in to sound check in the afternoon, but it's really up to them. There is no standard answer.

If it's Ben Platt, then my take is that artists who include meet and greet options tend to bolt after the show, since if people wanted to see them, that path was made available... Also the dynamic has changed, since not everyone at DEH was a Ben Platt fan, they just wanted to see the show. Whereas pretty much everyone at his concert will be a Ben Platt fan, making the stagedoor less of an option. (If not Ben Platt/DEH, substitute any actor/show in there)

When I saw Josh Groban and Lena Hall in Indianapolis, a lot of people stagedoored, and both performers came out. Lena didn't really stay that long, but she did go down the line and wave at the crowd (she said hi to me, but she knows me). Groban, however, went down the line and signed stuff for people, and had chats with a lot of us. He asked my name, and everything. He's such an approachable, personable man.

Thanks for the kind replies and here's a little supplementary description of my question. I'm planning to go to Remin and Sierra's concert in FL this May. Obviously, it's not a musical show but I assume most of the audiences will be musical fans. I just wondered if it's Ok to do stagedooring on such an occasion.

I totally understand whether they will offer to sign for or take photos with fans at the venue really depends. I just want to make sure this won't be unacceptable for them.

Are you asking whether it is against standard etiquette to stage-door after a concert? If so, the answer is no. It's just as appropriate to stage-door after a concert as it is to stage-door after a play or musical. Whether or not you'll be successful is another question entirely, due to the variables people mentioned above.
