LOUSING LOUIE (B+) - It's a nice play. Very nice. Had many a good laugh. No big faults that I can point out. It's just not brilliant.

GREY GARDENS (B+) - Act I is rather uneventful. It sets up Act II and the characters and serves no other purpose. But Act II was brilliant. The music is forgettable. It's just like a CAROLINE, OR CHANGE situation. It won't be open long because it's not a tourist show, it's an art show. Christine Ebersole will be nominated for the Tony. I don't see them fixing the book and music issues enough to get critical acclaim. New Yorkers will see it for the talent then it'll close when only the tourists are left to see it.

A CHORUS LINE (A-) - the first three musical numbers I was like "Oh no, I made a mistake in seeing this" because the acoustics were so underwhelming. It doesn't sound like there is an orchestra at all. Just singing to backup tracks to an audio CD. But the rest of the show I was in tears. Never saw the show before and liked it a lot. I don't care if everything is the same as the original - doesn't bother me. The talent is great. No one will be nominated for a Tony.

RENT (D) - Needs to close. Thoughts posted in another thread.

THE PRODUCERS (C-) - Also needs to close. It's in a very tired state.

JERSEY BOYS (A) - Thoughts posted in another thread. Brilliant. My favorite thing I've seen.

MARTIN SHORT (A-) - Funny. Very funny at times. I didn't care for some of it, though. Capathia's number was great. Jiminy Glick was great. Interviewed the weatherman of the Today Show.

AVENUE Q (A) - Brilliant. No complaints.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Glad you liked ACL!!! What did you think of D'Amboise as Cassie??

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I'm happy you hate the Producers and love ACL. We think alike in that way!

Charlotte was OK but not spectacular. Well - OK, she was a spectacular dancer but didn't stand out as an actress - WHICH IS A COMPLIMENT - sorta. She isn't doing "extra" things to stand out (her character does, she's a former leading lady. I'm talking about being the lead in ACL). So she suits the show perfectly.

In other words, she's perfect. I would never see the show because she's in it. It's the type of show where it wouldn't matter if they put in big names to draw sales. There's only so much you can go with Cassie.

I hope that's coherent. I'm running on two hours sleep...
