Name the Carlottas you've seen in Phantom, where, and a brief comment/rating out of 10!
Kim Stengel - Toronto - A lot like Rosemary Ashe on the Cast Recording. Very nice portrayal. 8/10.
Patricia Phillips - Broadway - Very agressive! The definitive Carlotta! Perhaps a little to old, though. 9.5/10

Kim Stengel, Boston, Yesterday: Great acting performance, wasn't blown away by her voice... 6-7/10.

Anne Runolfsson (Current Bway Carlotta) - Fabulous. 10/10 easily.
Same with jjdude2000. I also saw Leigh Munro play the part back in 1999. She was very good, but not up to the same caliber of Ms. Runolfsson. Her acting was perfection, the best style of campiness for Carlotta, but her voice was very weak in the second act. 8/10
I saw the understudy for Anne Runolfsson, Kris Kook, and thought she was very very good. Carlotta is the best part in the show.
I'm wondering, did anyone see Judy Kaye in the OBC? How was she?
The only one I saw was Kim Stengel back in 2002. I thought she and Ted Keegan (Phantom) were the highlights of the show. Really good actress, lots of presence. And she was nice to me at the stage door. :)

The understudy for Anne Runolfsson is Kris Koop. She is also an understudy for Christine.
I saw Anne Runolfsson. A perfect ten. She was absolutely incredible. I don't know why they bothered putting a microphone on her... She could have done without it.

Everyone is miked for balance with other singers and with the orchestra - not because everyone that is miked nesessarily NEEDS one.
From 1995 to 2003: Geena Jeffries, Diane Ketchie, Lydia Rajunas, Kim Stengel, Patricia Hurd, Marcia Cope-Hart, and Julie Schmidt.
Not bothering with dates or ratings because it was all so long ago except for Kim Stengel and Lydia Rajunas. Stengel and Julie Schmidt were my least favorites. Geena Jeffries, on the other hand, was phenomenal, and I wish I could see her in something again!
#1 Cant remember the name, Toronto '94, not the original Canadian one, but one of those wierd names, she was EXCELLENT.
#2 Valda Aviks, London (what can i say, something about a good old fat opera diva just makes the part) but she had a thick german accent.
#3 just after Valda left london, cant remember the name, was nothing special.
#4 5 6&7 Kim Stengel Toronto, very good, very vocal when she was not supposed to be (fiesty backchat)
#8&9 london, Jasnir Avir, for me the best to date, shre she was young, but she had so myc attitude and facial expression, TOTAL DIVA
#10 NYC understudy WREN MARIE HARRINGTON was ok
#11 Julie Schmidt on tour then again for #12 & 13 NYC, was ok, nothing special, a bit too thin.
London in 2002, cant remember the name, good voice, attitude, the pic of her in the brochure holding her throat in the hannibal scene screaming was to die for
finally (not most recently though) Liz Mccartney in NYC, kinda scary in a drag queen sort of way, i would not want to mess with her, and suprisingly good vocally
