I saw Wicked in Chicago on Tues. The cast was so-so but Carole Shelly was in it and she was by far the best in the cast! What was her most memorable role (it cant be Wicked)

Her Theatre work is extrodinary!
But her work as Cancer survivor and advocate is the most moving of all.
Love her.

The best thing I've seen do was when she replaced Piper Laurie in The Destiny of Me. I'd rank her performance in that over her performance in The Elephant Man.
She was also supposed to have been great in the national tour of Broadway Bound and as Margery Pinchwife in The Country Wife at Stratford, Conn., back in the early 1970s.

Posted: 5/27/06 at 8:51amI saw Carole Shelley in Blithe Spirit at the Stratford Festival in Ontario many years ago. Her co-stars were Brian Bedford and an unforgettable Tammy Grimes. To this day, I still vividly remember that show, how much I enjoyed it, and the performances of the three stars - especially Ms. Grimes.

I assume her role in The Elephant Man (for which she won a Tony) is probably her greatest accomplishment.
However, I didn't see her in that role. For me, her best work was as Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret. I thought she was ions better than Mary Louise Wilson, her predecessor.
