But for the record, she didn't leave Wicked, she is out on medical leave due to a back injury. They have called in various replacements including most recent Elphaba Christine Dwyer for the few weeks she was available and now Jennifer DiNoia who just came from the London and 1st National Tour companies.

Caroline has stated that she expects to be back soon.

Something about all of this seems off to me. Wicked usually lives to let people go and replace them after they miss several weeks of shows, but they have found not one but two temporary replacements for CB, and she's been out for over a month? I don't want to see anyone let go, I'm just surprised that they're being this patient with her, which makes me wonder why? Maybe they just like her that much? I can't help but think that something is missing from the equation that we don't know.

If she got her back injury doing the show, they can't legally replace her while she's on leave.

If it's a work related injury, chances are they can't legally terminate her contract.

I have a friend who is hoping to see the show sometime this week and would really like to see Caroline as Elphaba. I searched and didn't find any info regarding her being out on vacation. Does she usually do all 8 shows a week? I realize of course that anything could happen and she could be out, but I was trying to see if there was a particular night that would be better to try and catch her.

Her attendance has been pretty consistent since she returned from her medical leave. Your friend should be fine barring any unforeseen day-of-show issues.

She seems to miss at least once a week, and its usually on a 2 show day. I saw her back when she first started and saw her last week, and WOW she has evolved so much.  I hope your friend gets to see her. She is a real treat! If she is out though Emily or Desi won't disappoint either.

Thanks for your help guys! We actually saw the show this evening and Caroline was in. While I didn't love her in the beginning, I thought she sang well and her second act was pretty great and by the end I was totally won over. My friend loved her and I'm glad he got to see her. I hadn't seen the show since Idina & Jennifer Laura Thompson were in it -  Hopefully I won't wait another 10 years to see it again! My only major complaint was Matt as Fiyero... but that's for a different thread.
