Posted: 8/9/04 at 8:44amThis might close the 22nd. Anyone know who is leaving the cast then? The replacement would do the last week if they kept it open.

when I picked up my tickets at the box office on Friday, I asked if Tonya was still planning vacation the last week. he told me there was NO INFORMATION yet as to whether or not she would keep it scheduled.
I don't think they can close early after posting the notice (someone help me here who knows the Union contracts/agreements). Even if they could, I would think they would take in a week of box office rather than pay everyone out for a week if they close early.

Posted: 8/10/04 at 10:34amSorry for saying this and I know I'm not in the popular opinion, but I'm glad this show is closing to make way for something with a little bit of substance. Broadway is too full of these types of shows. It's time a musical that's upbeat and peppy comes in!

I totally agree with you. Broadway needs more upbeat musicals. It's just sad that shows like Boy From Oz are closing. But yes I do agree with you that Caroline has to go.

Posted: 8/10/04 at 11:54amcaroline need not go anywhere, dammit. and elphaba984; i marvel at the fact that you can take a post seriously which says the show lacks "substance", considering what show your loginname is endorsing.

Posted: 8/10/04 at 1:24pmHow long will the O'Neill be dark? If it is late September, maybe we could have a revival of Boy From Oz with Justin Timberlake and the Millie revival could go into the Imperial. They should get Brit-knee to do it.

Posted: 8/10/04 at 1:47pmAccording to Broadway.com, Caroline, or Change will be closing on August 29. I must say I'm awfully disappointed. I saw Tony Pinkins perform on the Tony's; the day the CD came out I bought it and fell in love with the show. I'm a deep lover of Tesori and Kushner and them together is amazing. I have never gotten the chance to see the show and I'm very, very sad. I think Caroline, or Change (just from knowledge of the soundtrack) is a beautiful show and that's what Broadway needs more of. Beautiful stories, beautiful music.

Posted: 8/10/04 at 6:33pmthe more I think about it the more angry it makes me. I'm just thankful that I got to see it. Now i feel compelled to listen to the cd. Watching I hate the Bust and the Moon, Emmie and Stuart Trio is the closest i've ever gotten to crying at a show(and i hate to cry). Something about Rose finally breaking down and Emmie still so full of hope really moved me. Wonderful show.

Posted: 8/10/04 at 10:31pmWhile most I know kinda hated the show (one being the roommate of one of the cast...), I really fell in love with it, at the Public and on Broadway. I bought the CD this weekend, and playing it on the train, I still couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the lyrics and the arrangements. Such a shame that the general public couldn't give it a chance, not when they can't miss the chance to watch Hugh Jackman wade through crap everynight...

I definitely think that Caroline, or Change got shafted.
I've never seen the show, as I've said, but it's by far, one of my favorites. It has so much to say and says it so poetically that it gives me chills.
I hope they all have an excellent rest of the run.
(Oh, PS, for those who love Tonya Pinkins--I suggest picking up the PLAY ON! soundtrack... She's great on it!!)
