as much as i'd love to see shrek on broadway...here's my biggest concern. if it's dark and edgy and great...well, how famous is the movie? parents will flock to it and bring their children without actually reading anything on what the show might actually be like...and that just has the word FLOPAROO written all over it. and if it's light and fluffy and mainstream...sigh...theme park.
I liked the Shrek movies, but I think it will be better as a movie. However, doesn't mean I'm not interested! Glad you're showing some enthusiasm, Corine2!

corine who are you...relax...what is your sudden obsession with this buzz?? and i half to agree with bobby...leave it on the screen...i mean...how exciting will the dancing in this musical be?
Did you see Fuddy Meers? One of the greatest shows at MTC.
Abaire, a very talented playwright.
And Tesori, she has only written a few of my favorite scores:
Violet, Caroline or Change and Millie.
Nothing to get that excited about.
A good playwright does not a librettist make. See: Charle Busch.
Theme Park!
Well now that La Cage is gone the Core needs something to obsess over. But Jesus, this won't be on stage for over a year.
Oh, and the article says "MAY be." Didn't they say last week that Jason Robert Brown was stepping in to rescue Mambo Kings?
Anyone who thinks SHREK the musical will be dark and edgy doesn't understand the concept of branding.

You know, as is so often the case, the French have an expression that sums this prospect up so much better than any other language:
parc de thème
Throws very large scooby snack at NAMOROO.
Knocks him out, or at least shuts his pie hole.
Actually cake hole. We have danced this dance before.
