I have an excellent idea, at least, in my opinion. If the rumors are true about Caroline going to the National Theatre in Britain...

So several years ago the National was doing productions of Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals, or maybe just great American musicals in general, correct? Now, I think they should have a season devoted to the NEW American musical (or maybe spread out over a couple of seasons). Ideally, I think the National should see "Caroline, or Change," "The Light in the Piazza," "The Wild Party" (LaChiusa), "Marie Christine," and "Parade."

How incredible would that be? I would fly to London to see it.

It is one of my favorite shows. It is very dark, but I listen to my cd all the time.
Seems my neighbor does not agree. When I play Avenue Q, they clap. I had Lot's Wife on today and they banged on the wall.
Critics everywhere!

I was enamored with this show. Even my dad, of all people, enjoyed it.

It was such a memorable 2.25 hours in the theatre, and I hope it gets its due, someday.

Tonya was definitely ROBBED of the Tony.
Don't even get me started on Idina's win over two INCREDIBLE, rich, fully loaded, complicated performances. Donna and Tonya completely embodied perfectly two very complex characters. While Idina, grappled with being green, and then belted really high.

Ok... sorry. I'm done.

But the score is incredible. Kushner's lyrics are a bit pretentious, and unnecessarily complex in a couple of spots, but by and large, a wonderous first time doing the libretto of a show.

Tesori is SO versatile, and completely understands each genre of music she writes in... much like Sondheim.

And Veanne, while not the best vocalist, still played the complicated character of Rose with aplomb and ease.

Let's hope it has a long and succesful regional run, where it then can return in 15-20 years, where Audra will be just right for Caroline.

Personally, I think I have too much bloom.

I would LOVE to design the sets for this show. I was not a fan of the original sets for it.
