I think Phylicia Rashad could play Caroline. I saw an episode of Cosby the other day and she was singing and her voice isnt that bad. We all know she has the acting abilties to handle the role. However no one could be as good as Tonya.

Rashad played the witch in "Into The Woods" on Broadway at one point and prior to the Cosby Show was in "Dreamgirls" and "The Wiz." She's totally wrong for Caroline, though.

What about Miss Holliday?

It's definitely crossed my mind on more than one occasion. I doubt they'd give it to her, given her reputation for missed performances and being difficult (not that Pinkins is a pushover either), but she sure would be a help at the box office. How about Holliday for matinee Caroline and standby for Tonya for the evening shows? Whenever one of them blows out her voice, the other can fill in for that performance. Probably never happen, but I can dream......
I just want to hear Holliday take on "Lot's Wife" just once, though, before I die.

That my dear Miss Channing is my dream, too and the dream of every fairy who ever listened to their DREAMGIRLS recording when they should have been studying.

Goosepimples, I tell you, goosepimples just thinking about it. As I previously posted, I saw Jennifer Holliday as Bessie Smith. She blew the roof off the theater-luckily it wasn't raining.

Just curious- what are all your thoughts on people possibly performing "Lot's Wife" as a solo number out of context of the show? It seems like a song that should never be performed out of context. Do you think anyone will attempt it in a solo concert of some sort in the years to come? I think it is doubtful. How often do you hear "Rose's Turn" performed outside of "Gypsy"? Probably not too often. What do you think?

Of course the big complaint about 'Lots Wife' being performed at the Tonys was that it didn't have much resonance unless you saw the show. (Go Tonya! Go Tonya!) So, i don't expect to be hearing it at a local piano bar

I FINALLY got to usher COC today at the mat. I thought it was MAGNIFICENT! I think Tonya was robbed. And, while I am ecstatic for Avenue Q, I think COC might have deserved the awards more. It's apples and oranges really--both shows are brilliant.

Well, J, I have not yet contributed because I have no casting suggestions to add...
Hmm...and the more I am coming around to really understanding this show, lol...the more I'm loving it.
I absolutely love the score....and Anika. I am one of the few who doesn't think Tonya was robbed. I feel like I am going to be killed now...

Nope. She was not robbed. Idina was a great choice for the Tony even though I have not seen CHANGE, OR CAROLINE yet.
