WOW! I never would've realized that she was Brenda.

(Cassie Silva aka Cassie S. aka the one that all of the girls hated)

I also never realized that she was Portuguese or Brazilian (Silva is a very very VERY Portuguese surname). Maybe she's only 1/2 Portuguese or 1/2 Brazilian, or possibly, maybe only her great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather on her father's side was from Portugal, and she's just as Portuguese as everyone else, and the surname just carried on. Do you ever think before you post? Apparently not, since this topic exists. Seriously, get over that Emma Zaks was not a good enough choice to take over as Elle for Laura Bell Bundy. However, maybe because she did the show, she will get something else very soon, based on her ability alone. Guess what? YOU seem to be the only one who cares about things like race or religion, and it makes you look ignorant. I did not know whatever you said about Cassie Silva because I really don't care. I saw Hairspray, enjoyed it, knew she played Brenda, and that's the end of it.

a more interesting note is imdb lists her date of birth as 1973, which would make her 35 not 19, as it says on her mtv profile
