I saw Jennifer Butt and Norman Large in LA and thought they were terrible. There was no balance with the comedy for either of them. They were just milking their roles for the laughs and it got old after the first 30 seconds.
Still, they were more fun to watch than Joan Almedilla as Fantine. Never have I ever wanted more than for Fantine to just die and get off the stage. She was all over the place. Her voice was just disgusting. Her acting was nowhere to be found and her movements were beyond bombastic. Easily one of the worst performances of anything that I have ever seen in my life. I PRAY it was an off night.

Can’t comment because I haven’t seen her, but honestly I HATE the double cover Cosette/Eponine thing, because few actresses have a voice suitable for both. You get Cosettes who can barely squeak out the high notes and Eponine’s who can barely utter the low notes. Besides one character is an ingénue and the other is a street rat; that requires two totally different vocal timbres.
