I think that for me there is almost always at least a couple tracks that I dislike... a singer or two that I definitely don't like/can't stand to listen to in a recording. Sometimes the way they act/perform has a bearing on their performance, but you can't see that through the recording... so yeah.

I'm going to have to agree with Xanadu. I saw the show and enjoyed the music so much, bought the recording immediately after, listened to it maybe once or twice. Honestly, it just bores me and is a poor representation of the actual show.

Rent... one of my favorite shows, but there's something off about it. The songs are done under tempo, and it just doesn't have anywhere near the amount of energy the live show does.

I don't dislike the Hairspray recording, but I really want a London one as I prefer that cast (plus, I don't think the Broadway captures the feel of what it's like).

The OBC of Les Miserables is horrifyingly bad. In 10 years, I think I've only listened to it about five times.

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-

"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-
