Cast Recordings Forever!

Show your love for those lovely CAST RECORDINGS here!

PS If correcting someone for using the wrong wording for my favorite hobby in existence makes me a theatre snob, then, theatre snobs unite!

Word!

I love my cast recordings! Look at 'em up on my shelf, all saying things like "original Broadway cast recording" or "original London cast recording" or "premiere American recording" on the spines! It's almost like they're all actually labelled as cast recordings or something!

You're my hero weez!

But I guess if itunes and Amazon.com (the premiere sources for musical theatre I'm sure) call them soundtracks they must know something we don't.

I keep my soundtracks nicely together at the bottom of the shelf.

I ditto BobbyBobby's praise for you Weez.

What do you have in mind phantom? How about something exclusive and snobby!

re: Cast Recordings Forever!

I hate going into music stores where they don't separate soundtracks from cast recordings (or "showtunes" as the stores seem to call them). It's a pain in the ass for browsing.

Yep. I'm a cast recording gal, and I'm not ashamed to correct you.

How about Bryan wearing a Phantom mask or dressed up as Lestat?

At least Bryan learned the proper wording eventually, I'll give him that.

re: Cast Recordings Forever!

really. you guys do realize how ridiculously pathetic this argument is?

take two steps back. breathe. breathe some more. realize that there are so many more things that actually MEAN something to argue over.

Name your favorite of all time!

I'm having trouble just picking one...

re: Cast Recordings Forever!

One favourite? Of all time? Can't be done!

I'm currently listening to the 1998 London cast recording of 'Oklahoma!', but I'm also very fond of the London cast recording of 'The Fix' and the Broadway cast recording of 'Assassins'. I love all my cast recordings. Apart from the cast recordings I don't love, but I love more cast recordings than I don't love really. ^_^

It's funny you say that. I've decided that 2007 is the year I beef up my alright but nothing special collection of London Cast Recordings!

I was in a See What I Wanna See mood today.

re: Cast Recordings Forever!

Hell, I am so fine with Wicked being someone's favorite Cast Recording as long as they call it a Cast Recording.

re: Cast Recordings Forever!

BobbyBubby- do you have a list of all your cast recordings?

re: Cast Recordings Forever!

My favorite...that's a tough question!

First of all, I love The King & I starring Donna Murphy, but...

My favorite recording is probably The Woman in White. What a great way to record a show, live on opening night. I love hearing the footseps on the stage, the orchestra members taking quick breaths to support their notes...what a great atmosphere they were able to create on it.

I don't Neddy! I suppose I should make one. Pm me if you have any Questions about what I have.

Phantom, I adore the Donna Murphy King & I too. I remember the day I bought it (the day it was released) and the CD skipped. I was one angry 17 year old!

re: Cast Recordings Forever!

I would've been livid! My gosh!

I love listening ot it. It feels like a real performance, for some reason. I love how nuanced Murphy is in her speech. I love the darkness of it as well. Basically, I feel it's an epic recording for an epic show.

re: Cast Recordings Forever!

I posted a picture of mine a while back. I just looked at it and realized how much I've bought since I took that pic almost a year ago. Yikes I have a problem!

Joining the CAST RECORDING fun. Love them. Definitely can't pick a favorite.
