Cast of Hair to perform at Mayor's awards ceremony

I came across this article and was a little confused. How can members of the cast perform, if the show hasn't been cast yet. Not every person from the public is transfering, and no one is sure of Claude. & if they're performing "Hair", like it says, Claude is vital to the number, as is Berger. But, hopefully Will will be back.
Any thoughts?

The only member of the cast from this past summer who will not be transferring to Broadway with the show is Caren Lyn Manuel.

The rest of the company (including Jonathan Groff) will make the move with the show to The Al Hirschfeld in the spring.

i know Caren isnt transferring- shes doing RENT tour- but I wonder why that is....

Maybe it was a better deal, or she had always wanted to play Mimi, and that was her final chance? Those both seem logical...

shes played Mimi plenty when she u/s her on bway, and will probably play her again when she u/s her on the tour...

oh, she is the u/s on tour? that's interesting then. to take a ensemble paid part rather than taking one of the biggest female roles in a well loved rock musical.

I heard she was told she was called in and told she would not be offered the transfer....so it's not like she has a choice between Rent & Hair
