Casting A Shadow Over The West End

Casting A Shadow Over The West End

'The Shadow Of The Pink Panther -The Musical'

A stage version of the Inspector Clouseau tales with musical numbers by Henry Mancini is to hit the West End stage in early 2011.
Work on the stage musical are in the early stages but a workshop is due to be held in early 2010.
A large West End house will be needed for the large and complicated sets that the show will require.
It is believed that the idea was born during the preparations for the stage version of 'Victor/Victoria' back in the early 1990s.
Manchini has written a brand new score and is expected to expand what he has already written by collaborating with other writers.

Sorry, but to me the West End looks more and more like an Odeon cinema complex every year!
I've never been a lover of The Pink Panther' movies.

Thoughts?

??

Henry Mancini's been dead fifteen years!

Not a big fan of the film series either, though it was good in parts mostly due to Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom.

I think thats where the new collaborators come in! They are using many numbers he wrote for various different projects.

re: Casting A Shadow Over The West End

I have to say that this does interest me more than all the jukebox stuff and 1980s dance films (Fame/Footloose/Dirty Dancing) but, even as a fan of The Pink Panther, the original films are undeniably very slight and rely mainly on the comic abilities of Peter Sellers - without him, I’m not sure that it’ll be a particularly diverting evening…

Not a fan of the Pink Panther, hard to see this working on stage.

I did say the same for Sister Act and that suprised me and everyone else too.
