I just saw Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby and I LOVED it! She is absolutely breath taking in the role. I kept thinking, that really is a 10 year old boy... it has to be! She captures every bit of the boy who wont grow up's being. Great husky boy voice!!! :)
I went in with the lowest expectations for this one, thinking it's going some cutsie kids show and came out with more respect for Ms. Rigby, her family and this classic musical than ever. What completely floored me (and got the biggest crowd response) was the dance number between the Lost Boys & the Tiger Lilly's Band of People! I faught the urge to stand up. A show stopper nonetheless!
Other highlights of the show (besides the flying, which was amazing - esp the end!!) were - the Twins - dead on! and the actor who played Smee. I dont have my playbill otherwise, I'd list names. There was a great moment when Hook enters for the first time and the audience Boo'd him and he did a take to us and said, "What? I haven't even done anything yet!" - That's when you know you're doing something right from the beginning to the very end!
The tour of Lion King was here in April and I enjoyed Peter Pan, 10x more! The dif was because every single member of the Pan company wanted to be there and you could feel it. The Lion King cast was just doing another show and collecting another days pay... (reminded me of the lack-luster Oliver tour, that was out not too long ago)
I urge everyone to see this production of Peter Pan if it heads your way. Even if u think, "eh, its just some old musical thats been done 500000 times before"... give it a shot!!
AMEN!
I see it in late July!
It'll be on Broadway before the year's out for one last stint on the Great White Way. Then they do one final leg in the U.S.

I agree. while I enjoy the supporting cast on the DVD a bit more, I saw the tour on its first stop so I hope the new cast members have come into their own. If you don't already have the DVD it's a great souvenir to own. I cherish mine...
Is it back to Broadway? I thought it was playing MSG?
I agree that she is fantastic. Of course, she's had, what, like 15 years to get the role down? LOL.
Nice review!
"I kept thinking, that really is a 10 year old boy... it has to be!"
Funny, imagine MJ's disappointment after seeing the show and then reading the playbill.
I'll be seeing Ms. Rigby when Peter Pan arrives in Atlanta in mid-July. It should be a lot of fun!
I saw it, Tiger Lilly was such a great dancer. The guy who played Smee has been in Pretty Woman, and most recently Mr. Robitusson in The Princess Diaries. He was good!
