Charity Auction: Sweeney Todd revival goodies!

Hey everyone --

I've been asked to post and share this with all you lovely people to help get the word out about a really cool auction. Mano Felciano (Tobias) is auctioning off a lot of his stuff from Sweeney -- props, t-shirts, his Toby costume, etc. He'll be donating the money to The Alliance for Children's Rights, an organization that works to protect children suffering from abuse and poverty in the Los Angeles area.

Awww, not his crocheted Toby and his red muffler! That is a pretty great package, if only I had some disposable income. Oh well.

I find it odd he is selling artwork fans made for him. Why would someone else want that?

Also, I think he could make more money selling some of that stuff individually instead of all together.

I wanted to end this thread by saying that Toby's goodies will be safe and warm in South Florida. I wanted to thank Mano for offering such wonderful momentos from the show and encourage other fans to donate to the Alliance for Children's Rights in order to keep Toby's spirit alive!

Wonderful that he did that, but I'm sure some of the fans that made that stuff are hurt.

I heard at this past Broadway flea market that the Wicked tables were full of fan gifts.

Good for him, I'm glad it's getting such a high bid.

But I too find it strange that he's selling the stuff that people made for him, it's almost as though he's poo-pooing those people that spent so much time/effort to make those items.

Would it be better if he just threw it out? At least this way a charity got some money and a fan got some memorabilia.

You might slave over your gift, but I can pretty much guarantee the actor you send it to will look at it, go "awwww, how cute/creepy", then file it away to get pitched at a later date.

This isn't his kid's first drawing from kindergarten, it's stuff from total strangers he'll likely never meet again. Maybe you have unlimited storage space for things like this, but I sure don't.

It is nice that he is selling this for cahrity but it seems odd that he would sell things people made for him.
