In 1979, Charles Nelson Reilly directed "Break A Leg" a play written by Ira Levin coming off "Deathtrap" and starring Julie Harris, Jack Weston and Rene Auberjonois.  After 12 previews, it opened on April 29, 1979. It closed on April 29, 1979.  Reilly then went on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. I don't know if he discussed this show in his one-man biographical show.
