I think its time....she has a amazing voice and she would do well as Christine.
What do you think?

She probably could do it.
I have a video of her on some foreign (I think) television show in which she is actually singing "The Phantom of the Opera". She's, like, eight years old, though, and kind of shrilly. But her voice has probably matured. I could see it.
She obviously has the vocal chops. If she can act, more power to her.
I wonder why she wasn't asked to do the movie......not that Emmy was bad because she wasn't but Charlotte would have been awesome and she sorta resembles Sarah B. in a way.
Maybe she will be the Christine in the Las Vegas show.
Absolutely. Just watching her perform you can tell that she knows how to show emotion...I'd love to see her do that.

They probably wanted more unknown people in the roles.
And maybe she's a bad actress.
She pushed her voice too much when she was young. She can't go as high anymore. And her voice has lost that purity it had when she was younger.
She ruined a great natural talent
She's a good singer and I would love to see her on the stage even if its not the POTO she could play Belle also in BATB.

Or maybe her voice just matured. It's very likely that her voice had a bit of a change from when she was eight years old (or however young she was when she started).
Just because someone's voice is not the same as it was when they were younger does not mean that they "ruined" their voice or did any damage.
I can no longer sing those whistle-high notes from when I was eight. Sure, I'm a boy, but it's the same basic idea.
They were considering her for the movie, but they wanted her to lose weight and she refused.

no, charlotte church really did have some vocal problems. if you listen to her "enchanted" cd or "enchantment" or something like that, you can hear a wobble that's NOT vibrato that is a warning sign of vocal nodes.
i think they just had her singing stuff that was too big, too young and that she really did hurt her voice. she was incredibly talented, however.
Awww........that's not cool she would still have been a good Christine.

Major kudos to Charlotte Church for refusing to lose weight for a role. It's not like she obscenely obese.
F*ck these skinny-minis in Hollywood.
...Even though I'm 6'3" and 155lbs... I guess I fit the bill.
Hahahahhahaha........thats a good one Joshua488.
Major ICK to that idea. Can't stand her voice. I heard her sing Webber's "Pie Jesu" and blood came out of my ear. Seriously, true story.
Her voice has actually detiorated over the years... she started pushing her voice too early when it was still developing ... so it's not as good as it used to be

Sorry to be off-topic, but you mentioned a vibrato type sound on her voice that might be a sign of nodes. I've noticed in almost every recent Josh Groban performance, his vibrato has been unusually fast. It's weird.
I agree with Spiderdj...There's no one in hell I'd see the show if she were Christine; something about her voice has bothered me ever since she became well known. I mean, she's talented, don't get me wrong, but I don't see her as a Christine to the calibre as most of them.
just be happy we got emmy, i had heard that they wanted anne hathaway from the princess diaries
I wanted Anne rather than Emmy. Anne actually got the part but it clashed with something she was already contracted for, so they had to go with Emmy. It was rather hush hush. Anne is a MUCH better singer.
I'm not as fond of Charlotte's voice now as I was. But more power too her for refusing the part because of her weight. I think a few extra pounds is a silly reason to base casting on.
yeah with charlotte church...she totally screwed up her voice, its such ashame, cuz she sounded pretty good as a child
