Had the great fortune to see this show Saturday night, and really loved it. For a third preview, it seemed pretty tight, and I really loved the cast. I was worried it might be a bit cutesy, with a black transgender senior teaching a Emily Post-themed charm class at a Chicago LGBT center, it actually had some interesting moments. Also happy to see it wasn't a cisgendered cast popping on wigs and stuff, but that many in the cast were also trans and/or GNC. It is based on a real person/class in Chicago, btw.

Has anyone else gotten a chance to catch this show? I'm considering seeing it soon, and I was hoping to get some more opinions on it, since I'm deciding between this show and Tiny Beautiful Things for this weekend. Thanks a lot!

I saw the premiere of this play in Chicago two years ago and loved it. Philip Dawkins is a really smart writer who created such deeply lovable characters. I am glad that this piece got a New York production—Dawkins has been giving Chicago audiences great plays for years, but he hasn’t received the national attention I think he deserves.
I was surprised at how much I liked this. It is, for a lack of a better word, charming. And very entertaining. The cast is all top-notch, and yes, to echo what has already been said, it is nice for trans/non-binary characters to be portrayed by trans or non-binary actors.
I did have a few qualms with the text; there were a lot of issues raised that I felt were underdeveloped. But that didn't take away from my enjoyment. I definitely recommend this one.
This caught my attention as I walked past the theater the other night and am going to try to see it before it closes. It extended.

I just saw this show this week and just loved it. It was interesting, insightful and is absolutely needed in these horrific times in our country. See if it you can!!! Highly recommended!!
