With Idina performing Elphie in London and Cheno in-line for APPLE TREE and no doubt more movies/concerts... as much as I'd *LOVE* for it to happen... I seriously doubt it- unless it's the Tenth Anniversary or a benifit performance in the future.

IMO I doubt there will ever be a Wicked reunion/concert. The music just doesn't lend itself well to the concert setting. I agree with everyone that says when Idina is done in London she's done.

but really not many people know her from Adam here
Sure they do! Idina's the green girl, Adam's the guy in the tight white pants. ;D
(Sorry. I'll get me coat...)

What "fall-out" did Ceno have with the producers? I missed that.

I have been going to the theatre since I was 10 years old, back in 1951, seeing FLAHOOLEY with Barbara Cook. I no longer live in NYC so I don't get to the theatre often. I tried to get WICKED tickets at TKTS but they were never available so I had to give up on that idea. I don't have a clue as to who Cheno and Idina Menzel are and that is why I chose to read this thread. I don't feel any more enlightened now than I did before, other than the fact that they have ardent fans. Do you think I would enjoy them, or would I find their voices too jarring? I'm seeing THE COLOR PURPLE and GREY GARDENS in December and am looking forward to them. I trust they are safe bets. So, enlighten me about Cheno and Idina so I don't have to feel like I'm over the hill. Incidentally, I was a minority of one when I saw DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS last spring--I didn't like it; I found it tuneless and boring and was the only person not giving it the obligatory standing ovation. I must be a curmudgeon.

No but I hear they are going to do a six month run in a female version of "La Cage Aux Folles" in Poughkeepsie. Idina will play Georgia and Cheno will play Mandy (formerly Armand). Tickets go on sale in March.

Kristin didn't have a falling out with the producers of Wicked. Laura Bell Bundy, her stand-by, did.

I don't think it's a fair comparison when you compare Cheno to Thompson/Hilty. Cheno played it straight compared to the other two despite the fact Cheno seemed to do her usual mannerisms. Thompson played Glinda less seriously while Hilty did a retarded cartoon. Sure Thompson and Hilty got a lot more cheap laughs, but it was at the expense of Glinda (though it's not as if she had much depth to beging with).

I don't care if they come back to wicked.. I love hearing new voices interpret the show.. I'm not asking for michael and Sarah to come back to Phantom. The show stands on its own with its spectacle and story. OBC aren't always the very best, its just what you become used too, playing the recording over and over. They should have a Wicked 10.. throw Idina on that cherry picker and lets go! *GASP GASP GASP* tell them how iiiiii *gasp* am defying *gasp* graviteeee

The Glinda we have in London (Helen Dallimore) plays the part straight which is lovely. Popular is done almost deadly seriously, none of the over the top hair tossing or kicking legs in the air in the 'all because of me' part. Only laugh's in that section of the song are Idina putting on a Engish accent when she says 'toss toss' and the bit with where the wont work, walking around trying to get signal like with a mobile phone.
Obviously she has a upper class English accent which makes her sound more serious a lot of the time too.

Don't worry. Wicked's doing fine.

Sorry as I edited it I cut out the word 'wand' kind of kills the rest of the post.
To clarify, when the wand wont work in the 'turn your simple frock into a magnificant ball gown' part, Helen holds the wand in the air as is trying to get signal on a mobile.
I like Helen a lot, she's not too over the top and doesn't seem to be trying to be like other Glinda's too much. The accent helps as I've said but she does seem to be different.

I should imagine that Idina Menzel will have had enough of Elphaba after her engagement here in London. I saw her again last night and her performance is still amazing, but I would guess she'd want to do some other roles?
I shouldn't think her pay cheque bothers the production company. The London production has to be taking more than £650,000 per week. 18,000ish seats - average price £40? I'm sure they'd have her for as long as she can bear to be greenified.

Where did you hear that from?
I would love to see Kristin & Idina return to WICKED for the LA Production though.

The "La Cage" thing was a joke, and thanks for clarifying the trying to get a signal thing, I remember having heard that now, I just forgot!!! And yeah, I would love to see Idina and Kristin do LA, but it sounds like we're getting Eden and Megan which is great, cuz I love Megan and have never seen Eden!!
