Chenowyth as Dusty Springfield

Well, we all know that Kristin is a great singer and a comedic genius, but who do you think she will handle the drama of portraying Dusty Springfield in her biopic? This will be a real career making or breaking moment for her and I was just wondering what you thought?

I don't know that much about it except that Kristen Chenoweth will be playing Dusty Springfield and it should be out late 2006. I actually saw a picture of Kristen dressed as Dusty in Blender magazine and she looked just like her. I'll try to find the picture for you.

Kristen has the look, I am just not sure if she can pull off the voice. Dusty's smokey, low & sexy voice is a fair cry from Kristen's high-key ADD bouncing voice.

Saying that seeing Kristen in some girl-girl action in a Dusty biography interests me! (And I am a gay man!)

Voice-wise I can't imagine anyone worse. Surely they could have come up with a better actress/singer for this part?

I'm sure she can act the part, but as a big Dusty fan I really hope they use Dusty's vocals for it! I really don't want to hear Kristin's vocals on "Son Of A Preacher Man". Not saying KC is not a good singer, she is, but her voice is just way too different from Dusty's.

hehe it's the first time I've seen Kristin's name spelled "Chenowyth".

Jarred, I love you. I drove myself crazy yesterday trying to identify a melody that would not get out of my head. When I saw this thread about Springfield, I went to the Tower site because I couldn't remember what Dusty sang and there the damn song was, Wishin' and Hopin'. Thank you.

re: Chenoweth as Dusty Springfield

I think Kristin will do a bang up job. Any actor can tell you that playing comedy is much harder then playing drama, and I'm sure she'll be able to handle the dramatic parts. Also, she's already done a female kissing scene with Annette Benning in "Running with Scissors". Plus, most likely, they will dub Dusty's vocals as most biopics seem to do. Although, she may very well do the vocals herself..and since she's a trained singer, I'm sure she can handle the vocal demands of sounding like Dusty. Contempt prior to investigation never works.
Let's see what she does..and support her.

re: Chenoweth as Dusty Springfield

Is this news even confirmed or is it just a rumour culminating from a picture printed in Blender magazine?

re: Chenoweth as Dusty Springfield

This project was very confirmed. You can get more info about it on IMDB. Kristin is also a producer on this film.

Yes. But you can find info about it on Playbill.com and all other Broadway news sites, and even some entertainment news sites. This was very talked about a couple months ago.. re: Chenoweth as Dusty Springfield

Well... it's been discussed before and I know I will be giving her the benefit of the doubt until I see the movie.
They made Kidman look like Virginia Woolf so I guess Kristin-Dusty shouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities.
I think it's probable she will sing herself but how much she intends to use her own voice and how much she will 'imitate' Dusty's style, I have no idea. That said, I recently saw a small clip from her short lived sitcom where she was singing Fever and let me tell you, I was floored by the sensuality she got into her voice... I guess I can still be surprised by her as a singer.

As far as the girl to girl action, I don't think it's going to be a Madonna-Britney thing... lol... but as someone else noted, she doesn't seem to shrink from lesbian scenes so... I'll have to wait and see!

Now if they could just get on with it so we can see her in a real movie!
