Who wants to explain to me what its about, because today I found out that I'm playing Freddie in an upcoming produciton, but I don't know much about the show, and the only song I've heard is 'Pity the Child'. So yea I don't get my script for a week or so and itd be nice if someone would help me out a little... another random question: is the 2CD cast recording worth buying?
Glory, I would try to get my hands on the Danish Cast Recording (in English), it's excellent and the most complete. What a part to get, congrats! It's gonna be a hell of a sing. QM
http://www.musicalheaven.com/c/chess.shtml Congrats!! Freddie, in my opinion, is the best part in the show!
Chess is a complicated show with this and that constantly going on. There are too many subplots, and too little of a main one (Anatoly (Russia) and Freddie (America) are going head to head in a Chess tournament somewhere's in Bangkok)
But, it's really about Florence. She's the protagonist. She's the one who has to deal with all the drama. Florence is a kick ass role. Yay Florence!

If you can get the 1988 OBC with Judy Kuhn, David Carroll, and Philip Casnoff, that would give you a good basis for the show (depending on which version you're doing). It may be OOP, but give Footlight Records a try. It's a one disc with the major songs.
I'm not too partial of the London album. I love Elaine Paige, but Murray Head grates on my nerves.
Head is annoying as Freddie...and Judas...come to think of it, he's just annoying...much like Michael Ball...

Yeah, I used to like him, but now if I know he's on a cast recording (Passion) I will avoid buying it.
You can only hear his rendition of "Love Changes Everything" so many times before you want to take it out on your stereo.
