I would hardly call any of the reviews amazing for this Spelling Bee.
The Sun Times just listed thier top 5 shows to see this spring: Angels in America,The Chosen, Dealer’s Choice,Hizzoner,Love Song & Urinetown. No mention of Spelling Bee Chicago and Chris Jones of The Tribune only list the following musicals in his top critics choice column: Bark, Millie and Urinetown.
The production lacks much of the polish and heart of the New York original and was probably reviewed way too early for this Chicago team.

Posted: 4/14/06 at 1:27pmWow...I saw the production and it was amazing. This is the first bad review (either official or by those who have attended) of the show that I've read. Chicago has an amazing production of "Spelling Bee" and we're lucky to have it!
