I enjoyed the pet name one so much that I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone is named after a theatrical character. I have a daughter named "Genevieve" after the song in Camelot. I also know someone who named her daughter "Tess" after Tessie in Gypsy.
...I have a friend named Maria because her father's favorite musical is the Sound of Music and her mother's favorite musical is West Side Story...
..and don't you mean Guinevere?
I'm currently only 17, but I've often thought that I would like to name my children after characters from great Shakespearian(sp?) plays. Especially Ophelia, Desdemona or Juliet if I ever have a daughter in the very distant future or Benedick, Antony or Sebastian for boys. I should probably consider the fates of the characters in the plays before bestowing some poor child with a name that is associated with murder or suicide!
Also, interesting that someone would name their child after a character who is a stripper! I guess that would also be a situation under which the fates of the characters must be considered.

Guinevere sings a song in Camelot that is directed to St. Genevieve.
We're about to start trying for another, and if it's a girl, I like the name Daisy (Emily Skinner in "Side Show"). I also like Mina, after Melissa's character in "Dracula", even though the show was bad. The name is pretty.
Im 14 but this family i baby-sit for has 3 children all named after musicals.

I think Mina is a GREAT name. I also love Fosca and Dot. Yeah, my poor kids are going to hate me.
and they have a dog named Ti Moune from Once on this island
I couldn't name my child Fosca. There's probably bad karma attached to the name.
Thursday's ER had a guy named Lysander...:)
I'm 17 but when I have kids, I'm thinking about naming one of them Christine...I really like that name. Or Emily. (Our Town)

My friend is named Barbra, after, well, yeah....
I really like the name Brooklyn for a girl.
My friend and his wife named their daughter Nico, after the heroin addicted German singer.
I'm 17 AND very into the Shakespeare thing too! How funny! I think Juliet is a beautiful name, but the character's too passive. I really like Emilia after reading Othello, it's a pretty name and she's a strong woman.
I'm only 16, but when I have children, my first daughter's name is going to be Johanna Chavaleh. (Johanna from Sweeney Todd & Chava from Fiddler)

Toni Ann Gisondi (molly in the 1982 movie version) named her oldest daughter Molly
When I first saw Wicked, around a year and a half ago, I was REALLY obsessed and actually considered naming my children Galinda and Elphaba. But then, I realized how badly that would affect their lives, and how cruel that would be, haha.
Oh but I love the name Princeton for a guy... it's cute.
I wouldn't mind naming my next child Clara ("Passion"). We're really hoping for a girl; we haven't even thought about boy names!

i want a girl named Ti Moune and a boy named Angel
I named my dog Wizard after well...ya know
You named your dog after me?
I'm a big Shakespeare freak, so I named my computer Horatio. I'm looking for a name for my future iPod too.
I love the name Ophelia, but I don't know if it's kosher to name your child after a girl who goes mad and jumps into a river.
I've also met one or two women called Regan....I wonder what the reasoning was behind that.
I have really considered Genevieve for a girl's name, as well as Wendy. Its funny you can tell what my obsession was at the time I got each of my cats by their names. Flora (Sleeping Beauty), Luke and Leia (Star Wars), Audrey (Little Shop), Lotte (Phantom) and Harold(The Music Man). I also had a dog named Jedi. Boy I was a nutty kid. But I know that I will most likely name my children after characters in shows or movies.
