Does Raul Esparza like to take pictures? Also, how often does he attend matinees?
He's been sick or something lately, and missing shows more often than I've heard is "normal" for him, but he's professional enough not to just be like "pft, matinee. I'm going back to sleep," and just skip out unless he *really* can't do the show.
IF he comes out of the stage door, which is a very large if, *most* of the time he's absolutely lovely. You can be almost positive that he won't come out after a matinee if there's a night show, though. Anyway, if he does, he's very accomodating and will ham it up for the cameras. He's sweet, as is the rest of the cast.
Have fun!
i met him after the show in april. raul was so nice. signed for everyone, took pictures if people asked, even had a long conversation with my friend Barry about the deeper meanings of the show. i am certainly looking forward to seeing raul in his next show!
I'm having one of those "I really want to see Chitty again" moments.
*refrains*
I'm totally asking him to sign my bamboo stick. NO shame!
Oh, and may I add that he's disgustingly photogenic? He'll sort of grab you, tug you in really close like you're friends, which is a nice little touch, and then look perfect. Whee.
None whatsoever Emcee!
And it's totally true about his photogenic skills. The pic I have of him and me, he looks like he's family because he hugged me and has a beautific smile on his face

Raúl Esparza. He's the best.
THE POLE!!
Yes, THE POLE!
I heart that picture. It's never coming down....unless I get a new one with him, then we'll have to see.
If he is in the show and he stage doors, he will most likely take pictures, I've yet to hear him refuse.
he didn't come out the day I went =-( but I hear hes nice

And I'm havin gone of those "I haven't seen Chitty yet but I want to" moments.
i had a moment...and i'm giving in...TOMORROW!!! weeeee! yes, but the other times i've seen it he didn't come out the stage door. wah. i LOVE the pole! :)
(see, you post about Chitty, and all us Raúl girls hop on over! hehe.)
I think he hates me because he's never come out when I've been there. *sniff* I'm gonna try again soon, hopefully!

I've met him at the stage door twice and he's just the sweetest thing! I'm sure he would be more than happy to take a picture with you.
Greenifyed, you've got to clap for him when he enters.
I'm serious.
... sort of.
oh britt how i love that picture. but not as much as you trying to eat lunch with that pole haha so fun! but yes that picture is outstanding just like you!!

My Chitty SD story is happy and sad. I met nearly everyone....Jan Maxwell, Erin Dilly(sweetest actress I've met to date), Kevin Cahoon, Marc Kudisch, Chip Zien and they were all EXTREMELY NICE. Raul, however, did not come out that night! Why? Because he was standing there visiting with some friends, pen in hand, obviously on his way out to sign(if you've never been to the Hilton Theatre, their SD 2 big windows), and some idiot man opens the door and yells at him to hurry up b/c his fans are waiting! At which point Raul says goodnight to his guests, turns around, and walks the other direction. I and about 30 others could've strangled the man who yelled at him!
oooh. I heard about that.
On one hand, good for him for not putting up with crap.
On the other hand, I hate people who ruin it for everybody else. You don't give crap to someone who gives so much to his fans and to the community, and to someone with such a good heart. That's just not cool.
That man is so amazing. I was standing outside Taboo before the show, it was like 10 minutes til the curtain went up, and I see him walking THROUGH the crowd toward the stage door! He's very sneaky... He still signed an autograph...lol. Every other time I've met him he's been just as charming :)
Are they *allowed* to be that late? Damn!
He is a sneaky little thing. The fact that one person can have so much charm *almost* disgusts me.

He's lucky the crowd didn't beat that bastard to the ground. How dare someone be so disrespectful.
LOL! I haven't heard him referred to as "sneaky" but I would have to agree. He's the best!
How long, on average, does he take to come out when he does come out?
What would the rest of y'all say, like 15-20 minutes? I'd give it as much as half an hour, then give up. I've waited way longer because I'm stubborn, but really, that's just silly. If he's coming, it's with the rest of the cast, but usually one of the last.
Thanks, I was just wondering. I've unofficially added Chitty to the itinerary for my visit, so I was wondering if I would have time after a 7pm show to shamelessly drool over him (on a completely professional level, of course) before I had to run downtown to see Sides at 10. Probably not, but whatever.
