Yeah, it needs some kind of background. It's hard to focus on the car.

They're driving the car, and Caractacus (sp? I swear I'll never get it - maybe I *should* just call him Cactus) starts to sing that horrid song mimicing the sound the car makes. Doesn't Chitty Chitty Bang Bang end up being the name of the car too, though?

Aaaah! That song! I *loathe* that song! I think the car just ends up being Chitty. Not absolutely certain though.

There really was a car with this name, made in 1921 by a Count Louis Zborowski, the best known amateur racing driver of his time. According to the program from the London show, the real origin of the name is this:
"The name of the car was actually derived from the words of a bawdy first world war soldier's song. Officers would obtain a weekend pass, or chit, so they could go to Paris for a couple of days and enjoy the favours of the ladies of the town at their leisure: "Chitty-bang bang."
