Because it's a magic car. Or an oversight. You decide.

If a car can fly generally, surely a car can fly without drivers..
Does the car usually fly around during the musical without a driver? Or are the drivers not under contract yet?

I didn't notice the lack of drivers, but isn't that the EXACT same as the original movie art? I would have liked to see them change it a little...
Saw the marquee on 42nd street. I was suprised that it's smaller than I thought it should be. The "Sweet Charity" one is MUCH larger up on 45th.
So exciting....
It really needs a white background.

Or, you know, any background. It just doesn't stand out like "42nd Street" did.
I also like how the article says the cast is headed by Raul Esparza. That made my day.

Mine too! I wish his name would be on the Marquee.

His name *SHOULD* be on the marquee. But, sadly, it's not "Charactacus Charactacus Bang Bang".
His name should be on the marquee, and should be driving the car!
In no way does that marquee stand out at all...you can walk by the Hilton Theatre and not even notice that it's up.
Thanks for the giggle, Chrys. Damned car wouldn't be able to GO anywhere without the Cactus (I refuse to even TRY to spell it...) guy to drive it. :-P
question, is the building still called the ford center for the performing arts and the theatre is the hilton? or has that yet to be changed or something?

I'm pretty sure it's officially the Hilton now.
Whether you like it or not, the star of the show is the car and not the actor who drives it.

I said that already.
It's officially the Hilton. The marquee that used to say "Ford Center" now says "Hilton Theatre" and it uses the EXACT Hilton logo from the hotels which is SO TACKY.
Hey, isn't that where Ragtime and 42nd Street were?
And yeah, I think the car should have a driver, although I'd be the first to admit that I'd really just like the excuse of seeing Raul on a marquee

The original movie art was Dick Van Dyke, the children and Sally Ann Howles in the car... and maybe there's no drivers so they don't have to switch the marquee once the original cast changes.
The London Palladium's marquee is similar -- car, but no driver.
OH, btw, Raul Esparza's character's name is spelled Caractacus.
I shall try desperately to committ that spelling to memory. Really, I'll try. And even if I don't succeed, by the time I see the show, at least whatever I do learn will be closer to the real thing than "Cactus."
